Live in Person by Lynda Fitzgerald

Allie Grainger has a new job, a new love, and a pretty well-ordered life... until a cop she put in jail escapes and comes after her, determined to make her pay.

Her brother Len wants her to pay a different price. He shows up on her doorstep, demanding she give him half the nearly two million dollars she inherited from their aunt. Soon, she realizes he’ll go to any lengths to make it happen.

Then Len vanishes, the apparent victim of foul play, and suspicion falls on Allie. She knows her only hope is to find out what happened to her brother, a move that could cost more than one life.

Fitzgerald is such a master at building believable characters that it makes you wish you could sit down and have a beer with them. In LIVE In Person, I had the opportunity to revisit my freinds from the previous LIVE series books. Fitzgerald builds suspense in such a way that keeps you turning the page and saying, 'I'll just read one more chapter.' There's something in it for everyone: suspense, romance, family tension, friendship and even an adorable little puppy! A must read if you enjoy diving into and losing yourself in a good book!

Excellent! Like the two previous novels in Fitzgerald’s LIVE series, LIVE in Person is fast-paced and thoroughly entertaining. The characters are very real and likable—or despicable, in the case of the vengeful antagonist—and the scenes and events are tense and exceptionally realistic, and flow so smoothly from one to the next that I felt like I was in the midst of the action, a part of the characters’ lives. Fitzgerald has that rare ability that most writers would kill for to make her stories so realistic that the words disappear, and the reader is instantly involved in the unfolding events. LIVE in Person has that perfect blend of mystery, intrigue, tension, conflict, and humor that will keep any lover of mystery/ crime thrillers highly entertained and reading on through the night well past their bedtimes. Impossible to put down and highly recommended, along with the two previous LIVE novels. Kudos again to Ms. Fitzgerald. I can hardly wait to read the next in her series! Be sure to check out her fabulous stand-alone novel IF TRUTH BE TOLD, a masterpiece that remains at the top of my must-read list.

LIVE in Person begins as the previous two in the LIVE series, gently guiding the reader along what feels like well-covered terrain in the murder mystery genre, the gritty side of coastal Florida with its rundown strips and sketchy characters. And then with a few deft strokes of the keyboard, the reader glances up to see the clock has advanced and the sun is getting low. Somewhere along the way, Ms. Fitzgerald expertly lured the reader off the well-worn path and smack into the middle of surprisingly real people with real problems, real emotions and real motives. And at the center of it all is the nagging question: whodunnit & why? Pursuing justice to the final climatic showdown will leave readers out of breath with anticipation as they try to outguess what happens next.

Ms. Fitzgerald's latest mystery in her LIVE series, LIVE in Person, lives up to the high standards that she has set in her previous two books. Her excellent skills in character development, dialogue, pacing, creating conflict & suspense and setting are getting better with each new novel. You really do cheer the good guys and hiss at the villains in an engaging novel that sucks you in and leaves you ecstatically exhausted when you are finished. Her characters are so fully developed you feel like you know them--no cardboard flat characters here. Her setting of Florida is so fully described that you can smell the sea air and hear the birds in the background. Another great job, Ms. Fitzgerald, you've set the bar very high for your next novel, but I feel you're up to the challenge. Can't wait to get that one!
