About the Author

Born, raised and educated in Portland, Oregon, Ste ditched law school for a computer - something he has never regretted. Starting as a graphical applications instructor, he maintained a list of famous clients, from Joe Barbera at Cartoon Network, to John Hench, V.P. at Walt Disney Imagineering, and many in between. From there he went on to write speeches for the C.E.O. of Nihon Kenko Zoushin Kenkyukai, Toshizo Watanabe, and traveled the world, creating multimedia extravaganzas at Watanabe's conventions and events. Benton immersed himself in video games in his spare time - mostly in MMORPGs (massively multiplayer online role-playing games). He enjoyed watching the interaction between the players. Inspired by the drama, combined with the fantastical environments in which they would play, he created a series of short stories on his blog, centered on the protagonist who would eventually become Max Gunnarsson. Two years later he dissected his blogs, took what worked, deleted what didn't, and wrote The Vrol Trilogy - Lives of Future-Past, Lives of Lost Angels and Lives of the Provectus. These books are the first installments in what Steve calls The Primuli Prophecies. The Primuli Universe is a new concept; a new genre in storytelling. While there have been some efforts to mix science fiction and fantasy, never before have the unknown and mystical been explained in such vivid detail as in Benton's books. For the first time, a reader learns what magic really is, where the gods come from, and how space/time functions. Steve likes to call this genre SCIENCE FANTASY, and the description is quite apt. His first success as an author came when OMNI Magazine published his short story NOTHING BUT STARS IN THE SKY - a tale about an American Marine in Iraq who must rely on a local boy to survive. After a reorganization in the OMNI infrastructure, they published his second contracted short story, BITS 'N PIECES. Yet a third story, PRESENT REWRITTEN, is about a failed writer who discovers how to manipulate death. His short stories end in macabre or unexpected twists, much like the popular Twilight Zone anthology series. Benton lives in Southern California, has been married for thirty years and has two daughters. He speaks, reads and writes Spanish fluently, and muddles though a couple of other languages with the help of small phrasebooks for travelers. He is also a prolific traveler, as well as an expert-level snow skier, and loves mountain biking.

The usual "could use some editing" but otherwise the most fantastic books of any genre I have EVER read. I was riveted by the action, laughing at the antics of various characters (especially Lili) and crying at the loss of some wonderful characters. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! - MLS

There will be more books. I am currently shopping LILI G AND THE SECRET VAMPIRES (12-14) to lit agents and publishing houses. It documents the adventures of the Gunnarssons' adopted daughter Liliana, as she attends Max's secondary school on Azul. So... well, you know Lili. Imagine her with the Williams twins, snotty, inactive vampire students and some activated vamps to boot! Next on the list for Max and Jennie is "METATRON'S CUBE", a time travel adventure. Max and Jennie are given their first mission as Prīmulī, and they have to hunt down Edmund, the apprentice of Merlin (of King Arthur's Court), who has unfortunately found the powerful magic-enabled object. This allows Edmund to travel through time, where he unwittingly changes history. Max and Jennie not only have to find him, but they have to clean up his messes in the order they were created. To make it worse, Jennie still doesn't have her ghanlo. So, MLS, please do not fret. More is on the way. And yes, you are right - the books need some editing :) P.S. I put 5 stars so it wouldn't mess with your awesome rating!
