ABDO's "Living with Health Challenges" series combines ficitonalized accounts of teens living with the subject diseases along with factual information from health professionals. The use of text features, specifically text boxes and varying colors of type, helps point out important information such as symptoms to watch for and common misconceptions, along with celebrities with the diseases. Each chapter ends with "Ask Yourself This" questions specific to that chapter. A great resource for teens looking for answers about a disease or for researching topics for a school project. The author's work as a mental health counselor both in private practice and in the school setting adds credibility to her authorship of this book. Titles in this series include Living with: Autism; Cancer; Celiac Disease; Diabetes; Epilepsy; Food Allergies; and ADHD. A solid purchase for secondary schools.
