Like its three predecessors, this little volume arises out of the systematic exposition of Scripture at Kensington Baptist Church in Bristol. The four short chapters of this epistle flew by all too rapidly, especially because they marked the end of our ministry with the dear friends at Bristol.
As in the other volumes, we have isolated a Greek word, which is then studied in the context of Philippians. A second section expands the understanding of our word in the remaining New Testament books. Two invaluable aids in these studies are Robert Young’s Analytical Concordance to the Bible and Gingrinch and Danker’s English edition of Walter Bauer’s Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature. As always, the English quotations are taken from the New International Version of the Bible.
In this volume, Wayne Detzler presents 32 word studies from Philippians. Packed with relevant, challenging issues, the volume sets before us in simple, direct language, many facets of Christian life and belief.
