The story and the art in this series is amazing. I bought this for my husband for christmas and he loved it. You get wrapped into the story 3 pages in and just can't put it down. Great buy!
I've had this for a week now and I absolutely love it. I finished the very last volume last night and was blown away by the finale. This is something I'm going to read and reread, again and again for years to come. Can't wait until they come out with an omnibus of the entire run, but that's beside the point. If you've done your research on Locke & Key, you already know how acclaimed the collection is. It's a cerebral smorgasbord of wonders and psychological intrigue -- towing the line somewhere between heartwarming nostalgia, and gut-wrenching nightmares -- wrapped up in a mysterious, impeccably illustrated little bow. The slip case nothing to write home about; 'just some cheap cardboard to keep them together. My only qualm, if you can call it that, is that since the volumes are paperback, it takes a bit of care getting them back into the case without bending them. For the price though? ...can't be beaten. Having said that, even if you're not a fan of comics and/or graphic novels in general, I'd STILL recommend investing in this collection. Stories like these are just too few and far in between to pass up. So, so rare (especially amongst the jaded, hackneyed land of eternal remakes we're living in nowadays). Hell, the artwork alone* is worth the price of admission. As far as the price(?) These would normally run you around $20-25 a piece; so even without a coupon, at $60, you're saving 40-50% -- which is pretty damn awesome for the ol' "bang : buck" ratio. Albeit, I'm not sure how long they'll keep it at this price though because I have no idea how they're making money on this. Regardless, this is HIGHLY recommended, and worth every last penny.
