Overview

A brand-new series from #1 New York Times bestselling Dork Diaries author Rachel Renee Russell! Introducing Max Crumbly!

Max Crumbly is about to face the scariest place he’s ever been: South Ridge Middle School.

There’s a lot that’s great about his new school, but there’s also one big problem—Doug, the school bully whose hobby is stuffing Max in his locker.

If only Max could be like the hero in his favorite comics. Unfortunately, Max’s uncanny, almost superhuman ability to smell pizza from a block away won’t exactly save any lives or foil bad guys.

But that doesn’t mean Max won’t do his best to be the hero his school needs!

The Misadventures of Max Crumbly 1

  • If I had SUPERPOWERS, life in middle school wouldn’t be quite so CRUDDY.

Hey, I’d NEVER miss the stupid bus again, because I’d just FLY to school! . . .

AWESOME, right? That would pretty much make ME the COOLEST kid at my school!

But I’ll let you in on a secret. Getting bombed by an angry bird is NOT cool. It’s just . . . NASTY!!

TV, comic books, and movies make all this superhero stuff look SO easy. But it ISN’T! So don’t believe the HYPE.

You CAN’T get superpowers by hanging out in a laboratory, mixing up colorful, glowing liquids that you simply DRINK. . . .

ME, MIXING UP A YUMMY SUPERPOWER SMOOTHIE

    HOW do I know it doesn’t work? . . .

    “OOPS!”

Let me put it this way. . . .

Even if I DID have superpowers, the very first person I’d need to rescue is . . .

    MYSELF!

    WHY?

Because a guy at school pulled a lousy PRANK on me.

And, unfortunately, I might be DEAD by the time you read this!

    Yes, I said “DEAD.”

Okay, I’ll admit that he didn’t MEAN to kill me.

    But still . . . !!

So if you’re the type who gets FREAKED OUT over this kind of stuff (or comic book cliffhangers), you probably shouldn’t read my journal. . . .

Um . . . excuse me, but are you STILL reading?!

    Okay, fine! Go right ahead.

    Just don’t say I didn’t warn you!

OK, First off I just want to say I am the first one to write a comment. Second, I think that when it comes out that this will be a very great book. I know because the author is Rachel Russel and she is a very great author, and my favorite is Dork Diaries. If you read the very last Dork Diaries (Book #10 Tales From a Not So Perfect Pet Sitter) you would have met Max Crumbly. He is sweet, kindful, nice friend who sticks up for other people, he is loyal, and helps each other out. I think it would be cool to see Max Crumbly's world after Nikki Maxwell's and I wonder if Max Crumbly's book will be a diary too. If you read the overview you would see he is going to a diffrent middle school then Nikki because she goes to Westchester County Day . It might be because it might be a private school or there is just another school out there but thats fine, READ TO FIND OUT!! While Dork Diaries is for girls, The Misadventures Of Max Crumbly is for Boys. -SoccerGirl118 (Always there for reviews, books, secret clubs, anything with people and comments, etc.

Ok so. Who has a super old nook? Mine is from 2009. But gotta say, it works well. It has no color. Sometimes its slow. And it glitches. And i think this book really nice! Its funny. Katie-

Why is Anonymous the only poster for this book? To me,it makes absolutely no sense! I am the one other person that looks at the comments to see if anyone else chats here. Although, I do not read this book, I am more based on mythology. If u are here Anonymous hello! XD lol

If you thought dork diaries was a rip off of diary of a wimpy kid, oh boy your in for a treat! Ms Russell, I see your trying to attract to the "hip teens" but please stop. Making Max a "rapper" is probably the stupidest thing ever. Its time to stop! Also, can you make a book without crushes or the word "cute." Also adding a Z to Skill instead of S does not make you cool. It is pretty funny though. But the robbers at the end were terrible. The book is funny. In the begining Max is actually really relatable. But I don't recommend to people who think like me.

This book is great. If you like dork diaries you will like this. Even if you are a girl and this is a boys version of dork diaries you should still read it. I am a girl. This is super funny. If you like dork diaries or diary of a wimpy kid I recommend this book for you.
