Money and love is never a good combination in reality. But in the world of fiction they are the perfect fodder to weave out a thrilling tale. The writer Rosanna, delivered a decently fast paced book using that combination. Lola French, a financial adviser by profession wins huge money in lottery. She ends up dumping her boyfriend and moving out to her mother’s place exactly on the day that the lottery was announced. Lola’s colleagues find out about her recent winnings and eventually begin to resent her new status. Things turn worse, when Lola turns down romantic advances from Tom, her colleague when asked her out right on the day that the news of Lola’s winning spreads. Lola ends up quitting her job and going on a cruise with her mom, thanks to her recent financial status. However the supposed to be pleasing cruise wreaks havoc in her life and she is forced to get back to Tom. He recent past though, threatens her relationship with him. Read the book to know more. *no spoilers* The writer beautifully proved how too much money too suddenly can wreck your life. Money tends to amplify negative human traits such as ego and greed. The writer, Rosanna, made Lola the perfect example of this. But at the end of the day, money can’t really buy love. It can only buy momentary happiness which disappears when the money disappears – again, the writer has done a brilliant job of illustrating this. The writing is simple sans the typical clinches used when money is the subject. I felt Lola’s character was developed with care as the story line progressed. Of course, every character had its own flaw. One part of the story that I absolutely loved was when Lola’s mom landed on Lola’s ex-boy friend’s door demanding he returns all her daughter’s belonging. That incident speaks volumes about typical mom behavior. In spite of the story being not really fast paced I enjoyed reading it! MY SAY: Interesting read brilliantly illustrates why too much money is never good. RATING: PLOT : 7/10 NARRATION: 8/10 CHARACTERISATION: 7/10 BOREDOM QUOTIENT: 3/10 (Lower the better) OVERALL RATING: 7/10

Money, love and the world turn upside down Luck happens to that special person and moment in our lives. Luck is what Lola has and winning millions from lottery will turn her world upside down. Despite being filthy rich, Lola the simple girl remains lottery winning hidden until rumors feel in her work. She has to quit working as co-workers acting differently and the atmosphere at work is sending bad vibes for her. She needs a break after a break up from her ex-boyfriend Alan. She has a heart of gold which I admired her. She has to make sure that her Mom's biggest dream will come true. What a sweet girl she is. I would do the same to my Mom too. Going in the cruise for Mom and daughter is fun and they even met guys that took their hearts away. Life is even upside down when Lola decided to stay with the man in his home town. What a big mistake that is for Lola. I cannot believe she did no follow her Mom's instincts. Lola's mom life is jeopardy. She needs to get rid of her money to save her Mom's life. I am sure that you will do that as well. This book will make you intrigue but most of all believe that true love never fails. It is better than having millions. Tom prove that Lola. I am so happy for these two love birds.

Lola's Money is labelled as contemporary women's fiction, but I always prefer to use the term "chic lit." It refers to a style of fiction writing aimed particularly at the women's market and it's meant to be light, enjoyable, fun and wonderful escapism. Author Scottish author Rosanna Rae brings us a story that is just that - a great read to whisk you away from life's demands. The story-line follows a twisted plot divided into three sections - what happens in main character Lola French's life after winning the lottery, plot twists and turns that arise when she and her mother embark on a cruise, and then lastly dramatic, unexpected troubles that arise once she is back home. What I actually loved best about this book was the opening story-line that follows Lola French's lottery win. While initially a celebrated event, we learn that not all the fallout is pleasant. Rae really manages to bring home how suddenly coming into wealth can affect your relationships with family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. Things shift in a way that is totally out of one's control and those who treat you the same are few are far between. From there we head on a wild journey that features adventure in foreign lands, evil intentions, love lost and found, and in the end great danger. So set aside an evening in your favourite comfy chair and if you are so inclined, add a nice glass of wine to sip.

Most of us dream of winning the lottery, but for financial adviser Lola it no longer just a dream it’s a reality that has just sent her life into a whirlwind. Rosanna Rae was able to bring the characters to life and make you feel as if you knew them personally. Lola is an easy character to relate to and like most women she is just trying to navigate through her daily life, work and relationships the best she can. But after her big lotto win abruptly changes her whole life she is forced to rethink life as she knew it and reinvent herself. Bringing her mother along for the ride we get to follow along as both women try to find themselves and get the hang of their new lives while facing an unexpected turn of events. If you’re looking for a fun read that will keep you on your toes this is it.
