Lone Star Christmas is the first in a new series set in the small town of Coldwater, Texas. Callen , Laramie hightailed it out of Coldwater when he was 18, never planning to return. When he receives an invitation to the wedding of Buck, his foster father and his longtime girlfriend Rosy, Callen declines. When he gets a call from Shelby, Jake's daughter, he decides to head to Coldwater to find out what is going on. Shelby tells him Jake needs him. He is worried about seeing Shelby again, as he was in love with her all those years ago, and does not know how he will feel seeing her again. This is Callen's and Shelby's story. They must deal with some feelings that resurface, other family members, Buck's secret, the wedding and someone who tries to stir up trouble. Will they be able to find their way to each other? Will Callen decide to stay in Coldwater? Only time will tell. I really enjoyed this romance, even though the sex scenes were a bit more descriptive than I am comfortable with. It was funny and emotional all at the same time, with a certain cuteness as well. I loved the characters, the small town, the gossiping townsfolk, and the laugh out loud moments. I still can't picture those beautiful red dresses with the added embellishments from Rosy on the QT. That wedding would have been a sight to see in real life. Callen and Shelby were great together. I was rooting for Callen to find some healing from his past and see that coming home would help him. He and his brothers went through some terrible situations. It was great to see, that even when angry that Callen took off never to look back, the brothers were there for one another when push came to shove. I can't wait to see the other three brothers find their perfect mate and Happily Ever Afters. If you enjoy a great romance with a bit of physical loving thrown in, family dynamics and an unselfish man who gave a home to many foster children, then you will love this story. I will certainly watch for more in this series. The publisher, HARLEQUIN, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.

Lone Star Christmas shot right into my heart. What a delightfully ardent, heartbreakingly tragic, and cheerfully Christmassy story with laugh out loud humor drizzled into the mix to give it spice and cheer, delivering that all- around good feeling you get during the holidays. Yes, I might have mentioned it many times that this series is my favorite cowboy series and this title just confirmed that top spot in my mind. From laughter to tears to smiles and to sighs to swooning, this story brought up, front, and center all the feels. I absolutely adored Callen Laramie and Shelby McCall, as well all the other secondary cast and crew, especially the Laramie brothers - those brothers have that hot, complex hero thing going for them so strong and vivid, I can't wait to read their stories and destinies. Callen and Shelby have had the hots for each other ever since the teenage years. The threat of castration and to save himself from his tragic past, Callen leaves the town at the age of 18, without looking in the rearview mirror. Now, years later, Callen and Shelby have the chance to live true those old (and not so old) fantasies, and oh boy, do they heat up the sheets and pages... Through those wildly passionate encounters, it comes tangible how the feelings between them start to grow, how 'no strings attached' comes to something much more, and how they count on each other to be there when the trouble comes knocking at the door. I loved the story, from the very start Callen found his way to my heart with his conflicted family drama, and I found the book impossible to put down, keeping me up late into the night. A marvelous Christmas romance novel, a fantastic family saga, and a deliciously desirous addition to the beloved series! ~ Five Spoons

Favorite Quotes: It was Gopher Tate, and he threw open his heavily lined raincoat to flash her. He had a blue bow tied around his wrinkly junk that was covered by a pair of whities that weren’t so tight. They were at least three sizes too big, and the elastic in the waist was shot… Shelby gave him a glare that was colder than the sleet pelting his thinly covered privates. “Close your coat, Gopher, before you have to explain to the ER folks why you got frostbite on your wanger.” She was reasonably sure that had she been wearing toenail polish, it would have melted, too. Seems a shame to let the pizza go cold after you slaved over the phone to order it… The cat was there, sitting by a nearly empty food and water dish and glaring at Callen as if he were responsible for multiple crimes against felines and humanity. My Review: Delores Fossen has gifted us with the early Christmas present of a new series, and she has started it off with her own special blend of damaged yet sexy and lovable heroes, clever wry humor, heart squeezing storylines, colorful and quirky small-town characters, and a sweet romance with delectably steamy bits. I always look forward to meeting her amusing and uniquely peculiar characters and she didn’t disappoint with the introduction of Rosy - the armadillo obsessed geriatric bride-to-be with a taxidermy shop called Much Ado About Stuffing; and Gopher - the pervy elderly flasher who was well known yet never actually naked under his raincoat. The storylines were engaging, entertaining, and well-paced. I’m already primed for the next installment.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and must confess, the secondary characters almost take over the book. A stuffed armadillo named Billy and his taxidermist, Rosy, will have you alternately giggling and tearing up in this awesome story of family love and ultimately what it takes to make up a family.

"Lone Star Christmas" was a sweet holiday novel about all the things we do for family (however we define it). Callen left home- his final foster home- when he came of age and hasn't looked in the rear view mirror since. He's now a successful businessman in Dallas, where his assistant/secretary, Havana, fondly refers to him as Scrooge. However, when he receives a wedding invitation for Christmas Eve with a personal note on it, he knows his comfortable life is about to change. While he initially plans to decline due to already having work meetings planned, the note gives him pause. As it is his 70-something-year-old foster father (the only one who was good to them), Buck's wedding to his long-term girlfriend, Rosy, a taxidermist and eccentric but super-kind woman, Callen calls some people he hasn't talked to since he left to find out why. In the process of calling one of his brother's, he is handed over to Shelby, Buck's daughter, who he was warned he would be castrated if he touched. He assumes the same message stands, although hearing her voice brings up a lot of memories- he had a big crush on her when they were teenagers. Shelby is worried about her father, Buck. She knows there's something going on with his health, but he is shutting her out. Although he has had and helped many foster children over the years (including some he currently has), he asked for Callen specifically. Shelby is determined to convince Callen to come, and she travels to him to do so. When she sees him, it brings up all the feelings she had for him when they were teenagers. Combined with the ideas Havana put in her head, she offers a french kiss if he comes back to town- one which Callen is tempted to take. As Callen returns to town and learns more about what ails Buck, he reconnects with his brothers and meets the new foster children, who are carrying as much hurt and pain as he did himself when he came to Buck. To add on to that, he can't seem to keep himself away from Shelby- who, Buck has told him, he will no longer be castrated for touching. As he reconnects with the town and its many quirky citizens, Callen begins to heal. This was a really sweet story with some really great messages. I also loved a lot of the side characters, including Lucy and Mateo, the new foster kids, who are healing from their painful past, Ted, who runs a shop selling all sorts of crazy things, and Havana, Callen's clever assistant. Add that to the wonderful main characters- Callen, Shelby, Rosy, and Buck- and you really have a winning cast for this book (and future books in this town). There's a lot happening during the weeks leading up to Christmas and the wedding, and there is never a dull moment! I won't give details so that you can get there yourself, but so much happens in this book. I really enjoyed the journey, and I definitely want to spend more time in this town! If you love second chance romance and quirky characters who will make you laugh and care for them, then this is definitely the book for you! I highly recommend it! Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

The Laramie brothers have arrived! Delores Fossen is taking us to the small Texas town of Coldwater where there is no shortage of memorable characters. From laugh out loud moments of “Dookie Head” being shouted from car windows to unconventional wedding plans of a pink tulle loving taxidermist, you simply cannot miss out on this ride! Callen Laramie ran from this town, his tormented past, and his family the day he turned 18. Head ‘em up, move ‘em out. In Dallas, Callen had built Laramie Cattle on that motto. When Callen receives an unforgettable wedding invitation (because who could ever forget a stuffed armadillo draped with gold tinsel, a bridal veil, holding poinsettias?) with a special message attached, he’s forced to return home for this Christmas Eve event. The circumstances presented to him by his foster father, Buck, have him temporarily setting up office at the Inn in Coldwater. After all, how can he not be there for the man that saved him and his brothers when he asks for help? Seeing Buck’s daughter, Shelby, again after 14 years away is a definitely a perk to this trip down memory lane. Shelby McCall is the girl we all want in our lives, as a sister or as a friend. She is strong, independent, and loves her father more than anything. Well, ok, Callen Laramie has been a close second since she was a mere 13 year old girl. She was 16 when he left, hurt that he never thought to look in his rear view mirror to see what he was leaving behind. She was well aware of her father’s open threat for castration to any of his foster son’s if they even looked at her funny but Callen was different. She and Callen had chemistry, something they could never pursue. Until now. I won’t spill the beans but trust me when I say, there is no doubt the chemistry still exist for these two people! Lone Star Christmas is a wonderful combination of heart, humor, real life obstacles, and a romance full of unexpected strings! ENJOY!
