I’ve read this story again and again. The River trilogy is one of my favorites. You fall in love with the characters and story. She illuminates a time long forgotten. Dorthy Garlock was a treasure. She passed this past year in 2018. A grand woman and a true example of a gifted story teller.

This story is rich in characters and history as we imagine it should be for this time. I read this book first so long ago that I can't remember and was introduced to the richness of what all of Garlocks books have. They aren't just romances but lessons in history and American culture, all of which keep us enthralled. I am so sad knowing there won't be more. RIP MS GARLOCK Thank you for sharing your writing with us. I hope people appreciate it for years to come.

I love to read D.G's stories of the heroine and hero have happy lovung times together throughout the story which makes the ending not so abrupt. Wish miss Garlock would go back to writing stories like the River trilogies, Wind trilogies and all the stories leading up to each trilogy and afterward. Visiting with characters from earlier times is great. I love frontier stories of D.Garlock!
