After four years of fear and isolation, Skyler Dulay has had enough of being in WITSEC, the federal witness protection program. Uprooted every few months to stay ahead of her father's murderous associates, she fears they will stop at nothing to silence her damning testimony, and now . . . they've found her again. Suspecting a leak in WITSEC, Skyler reaches out to the FBI special agent who saved her once before, the man she has never stopped loving.
Special Agent Drake Donovan has spent four long years trying to forget the blue-eyed daughter of the mob boss he put behind bars. In spite of his efforts to move on, one desperate call from Skyler pulls him right back in to the fight for her future. Setting out to defend her, he runs into more danger than any one man can handle. Still, Drake will assume any risk to keep Skyler from being lost to him again, but will it be enough to free her from the mob-ties that bind her?

I can't believe you charge that much for 49 pages
I found this NOVELLA very satisfying, despite it's being rather short. One-star reviews from those who haven't read the book should be completely disregarded. This story essentially finishes a secondary storyline in Melton's sixth Team 12 novel, TOO FAR GONE, and I, for one, was very pleased to see Skyler Dulay and Drake Donovan finally get their happy ending. In the end of the original book, Skyler is whisked off into the witness protection program, leaving a heart-broken Drake lonely but happy that Skyler is out of harm's way. But she isn't really and her father's murderous associates find her, more than once, prompting her to reach out to the FBI agent who saved her life and stole her heart four years ago. Drake suspects a leak in the WITSEC program. Unable to trust his usual colleagues, Drake has no choice but to turn to a personal nemesis -- his own father -- for help in getting Skyler to safety once and for all. Through their cooperation on this private mission, father and son find a way to begin to heal some old wounds, as well as open the door to a reconciliation between Drake's estranged parents... But that's another book, actually. RECLAIMED, a Christmas Short Story. (see review under this title). Now, I wonder how Marliss Melton got all that in just 49 pages? Hmmm... I'm here to tell you, it's worth reading the book to find out.
Didn't read--won't buy 49 pages for $3.99--that's outrageous.
