Look at This Blue

Available for Pre-Order. This item will be available on March 29, 2022

Interweaving elegy, indictment, and love letter to California, Look at This Blue calls into America’s genocidal past and present as it warns of a future threatened by mass extinction and climate peril.

Stark, immediate truths permeate this book-length poem by American Book Award winner Allison Adelle Hedge Coke. From found historical materials to piercing, lyric fragments, these poems form a taxonomy of threatened lives—human, plant, and animal—in a century marked by climate emergency. Look at This Blue insists upon a reckoning with America’s continuing violence toward Earth and its indigenous people, as Hedge Coke’s hypnotic litany of loss spirals into a powerful crescendo of resistance.
