Discovered this author recently when I heard him interviewed on NPR. I ordered books #1 and #2 of the Roy Grace series and loved both books. Well written and really like the detective and the great plots. Have ordered book #3 and hope that #4 and #5 will soon be available in Nook Books.

Believable protagonist is a self-made businessman caught in traps of his own making at home and at work when he makes a fateful mistake by picking up an unidentified CD left behind by a fellow train passenger. Suddenly the minefields of his marriage and his company are as nothing when he is caught in a ghastly and murderous spiderweb. As the plot unfolds the book gets harder to put down. Highly recommended.

Just an "ok" book. Definitely not as good as the first book in the series. Quite a slow start and finally picked up half way through. After that I was ready for it to be over.... It almost seems like the author, Peter James, is great or has great potential, and the story line of this book is what made it just ok.

This book was suspenseful and well written. I enjoyed getting to know the characters who seemed very real.

I am enjoying this series; James is a good writer and knows how to draw out the suspense. Creepy plot and entertaining characters make for a good read. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the series, and hopefully finding out what happened to Grace's wife nine years ago. i would also recommend: Ruth Rendell, Barabara Vine, Minette Walters, Lee Child and Sue Grafton.

Peter James writes like a man who never saw a detail he couldn't expound on. The book is padded out with dull, repititious and unintersting descriptions of every coat, hair style and neck scarve worn by any of the two dimensional characters who populate the book. All the bad guys wear metaphorical black hats, all the good guys are Dudley Doright characters and the victims are hapless and self-absorbed. Unless your 15 and desperate for a book to read do not waste your time or money on this writer.
