Loose Screw (Dusty Deals Mystery Series) by Rae Davies

Lucy Mathews, crime reporter turned antiques dealer, avoids confrontation like a home perm. She even lets a cat shove her around.

When Lucy trips over the body of a buckskin-clad relics trader, her ex-boss asks her to cover the story. She tries to tell him no, but old habits die hard and soon she finds herself directly in the path of a killer and the exasperating, if attractive, detective in charge.

Can Lucy catch a killer or is this the last confrontation for her—period?

I just finished reading Loose Screw by Rae Davies. Truthfully I could not put it down. I enjoyed every minute of reading about Lucy. I have a problem with "wishy washy" female characters. But Ms. Davies let's you know from the beginning that Lucy falls into that genera but that she is working on her problem. It was funny, informative & entertaining. The whole package in one great read. I am so looking forward to the next book in this series.

I loved the this one and bought the second, read it and am begging for a third or more. I love the characters in these two books. They are like real people, not perfect looking, going through life learning and making mistakes, having real emotions, struggling to get by, with real jobs, real lives and money problems. They have humor, a dab of romance, an interesting mystery, that is a bit hard to solve, a great dog and a cute kid. I bought another book by this author also. It was more of a romance, but was very good also. Both of the books in this series have about 450 pages and are suitable for ages 13 and up. A great, light hearted, feel good book. AD

For $.99 this is a steal. Great mystery, funny, and you are going to love the dog! Keep them coming.

Loved this book and working on the second. I enjoyed the characters, the humor and most importantly, the mystery. I hope there are more to come!

Just a plain FUN read. Funny, but never to that place where it is over the top and begins to feel contrived. Really enjoyed this book and was disappointed when I couldn't find more by this author.

I finished reading Loose Screw last night and loved it! I enjoyed the author's easy-going, humorous writing style, which was a realistic and entertaining voice for the main character. It had plenty of atmosphere with the details of the antique shop, and the plot moved quickly. I was happily pressing my page-forward button until quite late. I highly recommend this for readers who like a fun mystery that is very well written. This author is clearly a pro.

Enjoyed this book very much - so much that I've purchased the rest of the series. Dog loving, amateur sleuth, Lucille Ball type main character is wonderful. :)

Fun and easy to relax with this book: nothing to keep you up at night. Perfect for a summer afternoon when you want a little escape.

I just finished Loose Screw and thoroughly enjoyed it. The plot is somewhat predictable, as is the villain, but the main character, Lucy, makes the journey to the end fun. There ultimately is a romantic involvement but it doesn't interfer with the mystery.

A mystery with some humor. An enjoyable light read with a hint of romance.

Too much character description. Not enough story development.

I enjoyed the characters greatly. Fast paced, kept me reading. Loved the epiphany Lucy had about the horse manure. Pulled together perfectly

I read this ditty this weekend and it was the epitome of entertainment. I loved Lucy. Love that she wasn't perfect, but had a heart yeah big. Of course she drew the interest of the hunky alpha male of little Helena, WY. The way it should be. Also, Lucy loves dogs. What else is there to say?

I just finished reading this book and I honestly loved every minute of it . It was easy to read and it wasn't dragged out and filled with borking/useless information just to fill a page . It was funny and had some twists that I literally was saying what out loud. All in all it was a great book and I will read the remaining books in this series .
