Lord of the Hunt by Shona Husk

"Steamy, sensual, and dangerous."—Fresh Fiction on The Goblin King

She Wasn't Cut Out for His World...

The realm of the fairies might be unbelievably beautiful, but its people are notoriously treacherous. Raised among mortals, Taryn hoped to avoid her fairy heritage her whole life. But now she must cross over to Annwyn and appeal to the King to pardon her exiled parents, or they're sure to die. And to get to the King, she'll first have to face the Lord of the Hunt...

He Can't Imagine Life Without Her...

Verden, Lord of the Hunt, is sworn to serve to King. But the moment he sees Taryn, the attraction is instant and devastating. How can he not help the beautiful, brave young woman who refuses to bend to the will of the court? Yet the power in Annwyn is shifting, its magic failing. No matter how much he may love Taryn, the Hunter knows that abandoning his duty could bring down the mortal world forever...

In a world where deceit and treachery reign, the naive fae Taryn fights for her life and the life of her family. Finding an unlikely ally in Verden, the Lord of the Hunt, together they traverse the shadowy depths of this glittering world about to collapse. Although Verden is a harden fae, he learns to love and valvue the life he left in the past. Stolen love becomes perilous, when the illusions around Taryn and Verden start to unravel. They find themselves battling to survive. With mechanizations galore, Lord of the Hunt will captivate your mind while teasing your senses with the forbidden romance. This fast paced, action packed, adventure will keep you glued to the pages when the fantasy world of the fae clash with the human world. A new and refreshing take of a fae world bleeding over story, Lord of the Hunt is sure to delight the romance fantasy reader. I received this ARC copy of Lord of the Hunt from SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication January 7, 2014.

Lord of the Hunt (Court of Annwyn #2) by Shona Husk Taryn is a Fae raised in the human world. She crossed to Annwyn in hopes of negotiating a pardon for her exiled parents from the King.  Verden, Lord of the Hunt, is instantly attracted to Taryn.  His loyalty is sworn to the King, but he finds himself conflicted, wanting to help Taryn.  Taryn is a great character.  Her personality and values are so different from those of the Fae court that it makes a fascinating story.  She loves her parents and is willing to do anything for them.  She finds herself attracted to Verden but knows she cannot show interest in him, or she risks losing the King’s favor. Verden worked his way through the court to become the King’s right-hand man/Fae.  As the court Enforcer, he has existed his life showing no emotion.  Any sign of weakness is a risk at court.   I like that Verden found his time alone with Taryn refreshing. He could let his guard down around her and be himself.     I appreciate that Verden helps Taryn with court politics.  In return, Taryn makes Verden reevaluate his priorities and what is important in life. Shona Husk does an exceptional job describing Annwyn.  She created a beautiful world that captured my imagination.    The plot was exceptional.  The story was creative with mystery and suspense.  Lord of the Hunt is truly magical. I look forward to reading Prince Felan story To Love a King (Court of Annwyn #3). Complimentary copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
