I really enjoyed this fun Regency romance! Shhh ... Max really is a good man, but his business depends on nobody knowing that. I didn't much like him in Lord of Chance so I'm glad I got the chance to learn his whole story and see that there's so much more under his sinfully sexy demeanor. Bryony is the last single Grenville sibling. She's been too busy building her investments to worry about meeting her parents' marriage expectations. All bets are off when she and Max both realize how their paths cross. As I've come to expect from this author, there's an abundance of intelligent humor and intense steam sprinkled throughout this heartfelt romance. Bryony is an unconventional, fearless young woman who simply can't help being drawn to Maxwell's smoldering presence. Theirs is a romance full of sparkling wit and fiery intensity. It's a wonderfully written story that kept me glued to every page. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I received a free advanced copy of this book from the publisher. This is my unbiased and voluntary review. Bryony is the youngest of the Grenville children and the only one still living at home, as all her siblings managed to find love matches. If she can't have what her siblings found, she is not interested in marriage at all. However, her mother is threatening that her father will find her a husband if she doesn't show interest in one herself. The only ton worthy talent that Bryony has that she is a virtuoso with the violin. She is also a genius with math and finance, a talent she must keep secret. With her brother fronting for her, she had invested and then sold to amass a tidy sum which she then donated anonymously to her sister's boarding school. She still owns the deed to a single property- which houses the exclusive gentlemen's club, the Cloven Hoof, owned by Max Gideon - which he wants to purchase. Max's only family is his sister Frances, their hard working parents having worked themselves to an early grave. He wants better for his sister and himself. He established the club on this particular property because it is the border between the haves and have nots, and his goal is to bring people together, who ordinarily would never have contact, to interact as equals. In order to learn what hasn't been in the monthly reports and to decide what to do about the property, Bryony, disguised as a young man goes into the club when it is closed. However, Max discovers her and sees through her disguise. Before throwing her out, he becomes intrigued by her questions and insights. Here is a man who not only sees her as beautiful but values her brains as well. Here is a woman, who sees him for himself, a brilliant self mad man. These two are made for each other. But can they overcome the obstacles of society, where she is part of the ton, daughter of a Baron and he the son of a dock worker and seamstress? As always, the author artfully weaves a wonderful tale about fascinating people engaged in overcoming obstacles of society and finding their soul mate. A wonderful end (?) to the series.

Bryony, who is the daughter of a Baron, has a quick mind and sharp instincts in regards to business ventures that she has honed over the years due to her sneaking into her father’s study and reading the financial section of the newspaper. One of her secret business investments is in the gentlemen’s club the Cloven Hoof, procured by her brother, and Max, the owner, is not aware that his silent partner is a woman. Bryony, dressed as a lad, sneaks out of the house and goes to the club and is caught by Max. He comes to learn that she is very intelligent and is helping make some significant recommendations to the running of the club which are improving profits. The banter between the two of them is extremely well written and a lot of the times comical. Along the way she falls for Max and this just adds to the story. This is a great story that is well written and highly entertaining. I would highly recommend this book as a great read.

I absolutely loved Maxwell and Bryony's story!! Two strong willed people going head to head is definitely going to cause fireworks and there were plenty in this story! I loved watching the bantering between Maxwell and Bryony. Their antics had me laughing out loud at times. They were perfect for each other! This was a great addition to the Rogue's to Riches series and I can't wait to see what Ridley comes up with next!

This story was so great. I loved the characters and the story. Bryony and Maxwell are great characters that you can't help but love and enjoy following their story.  Byrony is such an interesting female lead character, I loved watching her win over Maxwell and how she handled everything.  The plot is entertaining and fast paced, there are no slow parts, and the conflict is captivating, especially when he finds out she is his landlady and he sets out to get her to sell the deed to him.  I enjoyed this one very much. I have not read anything by Erica Ridley before, but I definitely need to check her out more. Here characters are not typical Regency characters, especially her female characters, and that was refreshing.

Lord of Vice is a well-written and captivating historical fiction romance. Maxwell Gideon was the founder of a successful gaming club, The Cloven Hoof. He was also known as the Lord of Vice. And, although, Max was not of noble birth, titled and non-titled gentleman, alike, sought entrance to his establishment. Max enjoyed turning away many of the esteemed nobility who had denied him access to their clubs. Max wanted to expand the establishment, but to do so, he needed to own the deed to the Cloven Hoof. Unfortunately, his secret and silent partner was the one who held that precious document. Max has given several, more-than-fair offers to buy the business, through their liaison, Heath Grenville. But Max’s silent partner did not agree to any of them. Max wasn’t seeking the deed, to boost his ego; he had specific plans, that he wanted to implement. And to do that, he needed to own the business. He also wanted to prove to Polite Society, that they’d been wrong, about him and his family. Max didn’t know that the woman who intrigued him to the point of distraction was the secret partner who had been refusing his proposals. Bryony Grenville, the holder of the deed to The Cloven Hoof, was falling in love with Max Gideon. She was afraid, however, that once he found out who she was, their growing friendship, would die, and her heart would break. I loved the characters, Bryony and Max. They were both intelligent, opinionated, and kind. I found their witty banter humorous, and their relationship touching. If you enjoy regency romance, you’ll love, Lord of Vice. Thank you, WebMotion Publishing and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy.

Rulers of Vice and Investments! Strong characters with high ambitions. Bryony and Maxwell's story was worth the wait! Bryony is unsure in her appearance, due to mom's criticism, yet masterful in her business dealings. Max is unsure of himself in personal relationships, due to childhood poverty and his new wealth (good digger.Together they'd be dynamic! Loved the characters, witty banter and sparks between the leads. Powerful ending to the series! Voluntarily read ARC for honest review.

I simply can not say enough times how much I love this book!! Lord of Vice is the story of Miss Bryony Grenville the last unmarried Grenville sibling, and her parents are determine that she will be wed this season. She is a brilliant woman who has a secret that would shock the entire ton were they to ever to find out. She is the silent partner of Maxwell Gideon, the owner and ruler of The Cloven Hoof, the most popular gambling parlor in London. Max has no idea that his partner is this beautiful, spunky, smart woman, but after she steals her way into his club and his life, he simple cant help but let her into his heart as well. I would definitely recommend this book it was a great read, and I cant wait to see what Erica Ridley will bring us next.

Oh, how I love the Grenvilles! Bryony Grenville is just as smart and entertaining as her siblings and she definitely has a mind of her own. Preferring to be an independent woman rather than married to someone she doesn’t love, Bryony has spent years investing (with the help of her “fixer” brother, Heath). When the owner of The Cloven Hoof wants to buy out her silent owner share she is determined to find out how he’s coming up with the money. A venture that teaches her more than she expected. Maxwell Gideon, known throughout London as the Lord of Vice, is fastidious in every aspect of his life. His gaming hell caters to the rich and poor alike. A highly profitable venture that he wants to own 100%. If only he could get the silent partner to sell. Max is a man with a harden heart that a maddingly intrustive, smart, beautiful angel threatens to soften. Thank you, Erica Ridley for another entertaining tale that had me laughing, wanting to smack characters (Max), and crying. Now that the Grenvilles have found their HEA – who’s next?

Bryony Grenville is the youngest of the Grenville siblings and the only one not married, she is also a gifted violinist and the secret investor in The Cloven Hoof, a gaming hell owned by Maxwell Gideon, the Lord of Vice. Max very much wants to buy out his silent partner, but doesn’t know who he is. He is about to find out who she is and that is where the fun begins. Max and Bryony’s story is as unlikely and unconventional as those of her siblings and their spouses. These two are stubborn, both good at business, and made for each other. The story moves quickly and has some surprises, mostly for Max. The banter between the two main characters is great – witty, humorous, and snarky. The Grenville siblings are great. They accept Max without question, Mama, not so much. Can these two stubborn people overcome Mama’s objections? How will they settle their business disagreement? The solution might surprise you. I enjoyed this story and recommend it and the rest of books in this series.

Lord of Vice by Erica Ridley Rogues to Riches #6 Bryony Grenville is the last of her siblings still at home and her matchmaking mama has plans to have her married by the end of the season whether or not Bryony wants to be saddled with a husband. So, with that in mind clothing, hair, behavior and dancing all dances at every event are a must. However, Bryony’s interests lie more along the line of investing money than taking on a spouse – a man who would take over her investments and money and holdings and try to mold her into the woman of his dreams rather than seeing her as she is and liking her just as she is. Maxwell Gideon is not on the list of any of the ton’s matchmaking mama’s but he is on the list of people Bryony has invested in. With that in mind and a potential change in the investment-wind she sneaks out to his establishment, The Cloven Hoof, to see what she can find out that she might need to know before deciding the future of that particular investment. Well, of course she is caught and thus begins a friendship of sorts that crosses the male-female divide as well as the have/have not divide. This is a delightful story of two people that in that time period would not be allowed to find a happily ever after together though they are well suited to one another in more than one way. Both have mathematical investment minds. Both are quick witted. Both see the value in people no matter what their monetary worth or social ranking. Both see family as important – perhaps more important than anything. And, both are truly good people though seeing a way for them to be together is more than a bit difficult to figure out. I loved this story for many reasons and fear this could be the end of the series and that would be sad. I still would like to find out who Lord Lambley will end up with and perhaps whether or not Max’s sister will find true love. But you know what? I am sure that this author will provide me with a wonderful story with whatever she writes because so far every book I have read written by her has left me more than satisfied. I am taken into the lives of people that I would love to meet and have as friends…if only they really existed! Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review. 4-5 Stars

I have read quite a few of Erica's books but I think this is my favourite so far! I love Max and Bryony, the way they talk and carry on had me laughing a lot. I have been looking forward to Max's story, he always intrigued me in the other books. I love Bryony, she is so different from what you'd expect a Regency lady to be like, even stronger than her sisters. They are perfect for each other, and I totally recommend this book! I was given an advanced copy so that I could give my honest review.

Lord of Vice (Rogues to Riches, #6) by Erica Ridley This is the final book in the series and I really enjoyed it. Thanks to the publisher and #NetGalley for letting me preview this book. This is Maxwell (Max) Gideon and Bryony Grenville's story. He is know as The Lord of Vice and dislikes the upper class and their rules ...she is the youngest daughter and feels she can never please her parents and does not want to be married off..she invested in his gambling den under a fictitious name. Then she buys the building and the fun begins... We get to touch base with the other Grenvilles and have lots of laughs, tears, some sex and a very HEA and an end to this series.

Entertaining from beginning to end, Lord of Vice captured my romantic heart. Maxwell Gideon is everything a women might want. Sinfully handsome, it seems he can make good things happen to those in need as he runs the Cloven Hoof, a gambling establishment. He only owns half and does not really know who owns the other. But when he meets up with Miss Bryony Grenville, he is in for a surprise! Silently owning half of the Hoof, she is an intelligent business savvy women! When these two get together, the chemistry is off the charts and it is fun to see the the interaction between the two and how their romance develops! Another amazing story from Erica Ridley in the Rouges to Riches series. It is always fun to see past characters come back and interact, although this can be read as a stand alone book! But trust me, you will want to read them all! Lori Dykes

Lord of Vice Maxwell Gideon part owner of the gambling club, The Cloven Hoof, wants to find out who his silent partner is so that he buy the gentleman out. Miss Bryony Grenville that silent partner, wanting to determine what price to set, visits the club believing it to be empty. A night that changes both their lives. A well-written good paced fun story with very likeable characters. It can easily be read as a standalone book but I would recommend the whole series if you like Regency romances.

I can't say enough about this book. I absolutely loved it. Max owns a gaming hell, mostly. He has an investor who refuses to meet with him. No one gets into his club unless he permits it. He wants to buy the deed for the land the Cloven Hoof stands on. Lord Heath Grenville has been the go between for Max and his anonymous partmer. Bryony Grenville is a spirited lady who likes to wear britches and roam London after hours looking for adventure. Unbeknownst to Max, she is the secret investor. Byrony decides she wants to see the Cloven Hoof before she sells the deed and slips into the club when it is closed dressed as a boy. Despite it being closed, Max is there and catches Byrony in his office. He knows she is not a boy but a young woman. He doesn't know who she is, but he is fascinated by her. She has great ideas and a head for business. Max is the son of a dock worker, not accepted by the ton. Byrony's mother is determined to marry her off this Season to someone, hopefully with a high title. She would never accept Max as he would be beneath her. When they fall in love, they know her parents will not approve. Will they run off to Gretna Green or will they decide that they will have to give up too much to be together? So many plots within plots. I would recommend it to anyone who loves historical romance. I give it a 5+. I received this book from Net Galley and the publisher for a honest review and no compensation otherwise.

3 1/2 stars for me. The first half of the book had me suspending belief too much. Bryony was supposedly attending ton functions, yet was at the Cloven Hoof every night. Plus she was always going places without a chaperone with ease. The fact that Max let her in and stay without knowing anything about her didn't sound feasible either. I will admit I loved the 2nd half of the book and the way Bryony and Frances acted with each other. The 2nd half of the book was what made the 1st half worth reading. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy!

I don’t particularly care how impossible this pairing would have been at the time, Max and Bryony cracked open my gooey marshmallow heart and made it bleed. They’re both so far ahead of their time. Struggling against a restrictive society that doesn’t value them for being their true selves, only holds their shortcomings against them. But Max and Bryony see the soul of one another. They value each other exactly for those traits that society sees as faults. I had to force myself to slow down to read this, to properly immerse myself in their world. I so desperately wanted to see what it was going to take for this pair to defy the odds. It was also a wonderful tough to have the opportunity to check back in with so many of the couples we met earlier in the series. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.

Loved it! Over the past few books we have seen the wicked Lord of Vice Maxwell Gideon preside over his exclusive gambling den The Cloven Hoof. Created to provide a club for men who were ostracised from the elite gambling hells, the Cloven Hoof has now become one of the most popular clubs where membership is purely at Maxwell's discretion. He's built a thriving business and has a hand in many pies but his sole aim is to buy out his silent partner so that he can truly be beholden to no man, if he only he knew his identity. Similarly we have seen Miss Bryony Grenville as a brilliant financial wizard, investing wisely and using the profits to donate anonymously to her sister's school. She is ready to cash out her investment in the Cloven Hoof, brokered by her brother, until Maxwell's offer is so much higher than he should be able to afford that she becomes suspicious, has he been holding out on her all these years? In disguise she enters The Cloven Hoof only to be discovered by Maxwell. Maxwell is blissfully unaware of the identity of his mysterious visitor, by turns vexing and intriguing she has a keen mind and a brilliant grasp of business. But as Bryony's mother becomes more strident in her demands for Bryony to get married to a suitable member of the aristocracy can there ever been anything more between the son of a dock worker and a member of the ton? I'm a sucker for a clever woman romance, especially if her hero is a clever man and these two were just great together and apart. Even their disagreements were clever because they showed how others can misconstrue our intentions. Erica Ridley writes lovable heroines, glorious heroes, wonderful families and she has surpassed herself with this one. I received a free copy of this book from the author via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
