Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
It's difficult to capture the essence of a region as large and diverse as Los Angeles in one guidebook. Reavill wisely doesn't try. He limits the scope of this guide by focusing on the TV and movie industry. As with most guides, the area is divided into geographic regions. A disproportionately large number of pages are devoted to Hollywood, Hollywood Hills, West Hollywood, and Beverly Hills, the major movie areas. Reavill takes care to identify architectural and geographic features that have appeared in movie and TV programs. A few pages are devoted to hotels, motels, and restaurants, but visitors would do better using a Frommer's, American Automobile Association tour book, or a current issue of Los Angeles magazine. All in all, though, this is a fairly comprehensive and up-to-date addition to the literature. Libraries that have Charles Lockwood's The Guide to Hollywood and Beverly Hills ( LJ 1/84) will want this work to enhance and update their collections.-- Thomas K. Fry, UCLA Libs.
