Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Thom Jurek
San Angelo, Texas' Los Lonely Boys (comprised of Henry, Ringo and Jojo Garza) issued their self-titled debut album on the independent label Or Music in 2003. Sony picked it up and re-released it in March of 2004. As smoking a debut as you're likely to find, the record has legs and in late 2004 is still being added to radio station play lists. Apparently, trying to ride the crest of the wave began with the hit "Heaven." Epic does what big labels do when they don't wan t to give up the mileage on a hot record and don't have a new album to follow up during the Christmas season: they issue a "special edition." In addition to the fantastic debut album, fans and new converts who have seen the band live get three cool bonus tracks tacked on, including Español versions of "Heaven," and "More Than Love," and a smoking cover of Johnny Cash's "I Walk the Line." As a real plus, a bonus DVD comes in this completely redesigned package and includes videos for the original Spanish performance version of "More Than Love," and a charming acoustic session where the band plays unplugged versions of "Heaven," "Crazy Dream," "Real Emotions " and "Hollywood." The gamble is to keep the record in front of people -- and selling -- until album number two is ready to be released. In the case of music this good, it just may pay off.
