Bubbly and spirited Cadence Johnson is determined to escape the shackles of her former partner. Moving to Portland gives her the fresh start she's craved, but the last thing she can afford is a distraction like Levi Babcock.

When Cadence's past comes back to threaten her and her life is on the line, Levi might be the safety net she never realized she needed. But will Levi still care about Losing an Edge to his biggest rival, or can he finally step out of his brother's shadow to become the hero in his own game?

Another great story. I loved Levi or should I say 501!

I am in love the Portland Storm. Levi is finally stepping out of his brother's shadow, and leaving the envy behind. Cadence is all grown up since we last saw in Delay of Game. She is working through personal and professional issues that leave her untrusting of Levi. It is a sweet story and wonderful to welcome back familiar characters.

I enjoyed this book, especially the antics of Connor. Levi and Cadance's story was fun and sweet. I enjoyed catching up with Sophie as well. Levi and Cadance make a great couple and they compliment each other well. I continue to enjoy all of the books in this series. This one made me laugh. Can't wait for the next one!

Another awesome book by Catherine! Those Babcock boys are so sweet!!! This is a great, heartfelt story between Levi "501" and Cadence. They both are having issues with insecurities about themselves but for different reasons. Levi because he feels he needs to live up to Babs and Cadence because of her abusive ex. I love how Levi cares from the very beginning and doesn't try to rush Cadence into anything. Very sweet!!! I have to say that little Connor steals the show a few times. Sara and Jonny have their hands full but he is such a little cutie or he reads that way!!! I don't like to give anything way in my reviews because I believe that everyone should have something to look forward to...with this book it is another GOAL for Catherine and I cannot wait for the next Portland Storm novel...an award winner in my book. I was given an ARC for an honest review and I believe that I have done that without giving anything away...hopefully have inspired you to read the book!

I love all of the books in the Portland Storm series and this is no exception. Levi sets his sights on Cam Johnson's sister Cadence but she has had some things happen to her in the past and she is apprehensive about getting involved with him. He is very patient and is willing to wait. Things take an unexpected turn when someone from Cadence's past shows up in Portland and puts her life in danger as well as the lives of her family, Levi and her other friends. I do have to say that the scenes with Cam and Sara's son Connor are hilarious and filled with very colorful language that he gets from Sara. At one point he wants to know if they are going to feed Levi to the "agilators." I received this book as an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. I highly recommend this book and all the books in the Portland Storm series. If anyone has not read this series yet, you should really start with Breakaway and then read the books in order.

Loosing an edge Levi Babcock loves playing hockey but always thinks he needs to do more to be as good or better than his brother. Watching Cadence skate left him wanting to get to know her. He was also wondering what her skating partner said to make her cry. Once Cadence moved in with her brother Levi decided to try and get to know her offering at first to be her friend little did he know she was being stalked . While trying to keep her safe he fell in love, I love this series and cant wait for the next book.

Worth the wait! I absolutely love the Portland Storm series and have read it twice; "Losing An Edge" is Levi (501) book. Having read the series, what is not to love about a Babcock boy but having 501's thoughts and feeling makes it even more real. I feel like I know the family even more after reading this book. Add in Cadence (Johny or Cam little sister) makes this series and this book come even more together as a family. Once I finished the book I wanted to read it again. Like a good movie you want to watch more than once. As an avid reader this book will be added to my list of books to reread again soon. Reading "Losing an Edge" I could feel the want and need of Levi's emotions through Catherine's writing. She has a way of portraying her characters in a way in which I feel like I am experiencing what they are. I can see the story playing out as if I were watching it on a screen. I recommend this book. It can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend the series. You will fall in love with the Storm players!

Love those Babcock boys!!! *** I received and ARC of this book for an honest review. This book was amazing. So worth the wait for sure. It's the story of Levi Babcock and Cadence Johnson (you remember her....Jonny's little sister). Up to this point we have really only gotten snippets of Levi and didn't really get to know him. But we do now. Cadence is an Olympic Medal pairs figure skater. She has recently left her partner and is in Portland working on a new partnership. Levi, course plays defense for the Portland Storm and is the younger brother of Jaimie Babcock. He feels he is always living in his big brothers shadow and he isn't living up to his brother's 'perfect' life. Let's just say this is an awesome book! I loved the fact Cadence made Levi work to be with her. I love watching Levi give Cadence the time she needed to come to terms with the issues she was dealing with. Even though he didn't what she was dealing with he gave her time to come to terms and to eventually share it with him. This was a great addition to the storm series and I loved the appearances of the other Storm players and the introductions of some new up and comers. I would definitely recommend this read.

Starting off, I thought this was going to be the first Catherine Gayle characters I am going to hate. Levi is unsure of himself especially in his brother's shadow. Cadence has had a bad relationship that causes her not to trust men. Trust me to stick with this book. The characters might be too soft in the beginning. But Gayle hits the mark and proves how strong they can be. Sophie is always a plus as well! Please note, I was given an advance copy of this book in return for my honest review.

Another great addition to the Portland Storm Series! We have been introduced to Levi 501 in previous books, and he comes into his own in Losing an Edge. Levi and Cadence are both great characters trying to find themselves. Together they bring out the best in each other. I loved seeing the progress of other couples we have grown to love in the series and Portland Storm family. Looking forward to all the family has to offer. Sweet, Passionate, and funny. Highly recommended!

Another great visit with the Portland Storm NHL team! These guys are like a big family with their wives, kids, girlfriends, siblings, etc. all along for the ride. It's always a pleasure to dive into another of the hunky player's stories! Levi "501" Babcock has lived his whole life under his big brother Jamie's shadow. Jamie is the Captain of the Portland Storm hockey team that Levi now plays for as well. He can never manage to one up his big bro, and ever since he hit the big league, he's doing worse than ever at it. Cadence Johnson is coming off the high of winning gold in her figure skating career, but also off the low of the drama she faced with her former partner. She's come to Portland to meet with a possible new partner while she's staying with her big brother Cam "Jonny" Johnson, also on the Portland Storm team. Levi has had a crush on Cadence for awhile, so when he runs into her at a team party, he asks her out. She's very gun shy and wary, but decides to go out with him as friends. They are soon spending more and more time together, when her life is thrown into a tailspin again when her ex shows up in town. Will Cadence decide to be honest with the people around her before it's too late? ** Received free in exchange for an honest review **

*I received a free Advance Reader Copy in exchange for my honest thoughts/opinions of the author's book.* I am a huge fan of Catherine Gayle's hockey series (Portland Storm & Tulsa Thunderbirds) and 'Losing an Edge' was the book that I have been impatiently waiting for in this series! I recommend this book - it has the wonderful romance and teammate camaraderie that the Portland Storm and Catherine Gayle is known for. In this story, Catherine focuses on Levi Babcock, younger brother of the oh-so-perfect, hockey phenom Jamie Babcock. Levi falls for Cadence Johnson. She is Canada's darling, gold-medal figure skater, who also happens to be Cam Johnson's baby sister. When Cadence's past problems return, Levi has the chance to become the hero for her instead of feeling like he is just living under his brother's shadow. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and reading Levi's story. Both Levi and Cadence are lovable characters with their own human flaws that only makes their love even stronger. Catherine writes wonderful stories about great characters that become family. Catherine also included little teasers to future Portland Storm books, which keeps the reader engaged in this wonderful fictional team. The Portland Storm has become such an important part of my life - I really wish that the characters were real!

Another great book in the Portland Storm series, Losing an Edge is the long-awaited story of "501". Levi Babcock is the younger brother of golden-boy Jamie (Babs), and he feels like he's been living in his shadow his entire life. It was interesting to see his struggles with self-confidence -- he has a very self-deprecating way about him that makes him endearing to the reader. It's interesting to see him come into his own as he fights his way out from behind his brother's shadow and becomes his own man. Cadence is a strong character, although she doesn't realize it. She coming out of a painful, abusive relationship and that makes her doubt Levi's feelings for her and her own judgement when it comes to men. Who knew that Levi was just the one to help her find hope for true love. Like most Catherine Gayle books, there is a great supporting cast of characters, from her new skating partner and his fiance, to Jonny and Sara and their hilarious preschool-aged son who repeats every word he hears, which in Jonny and Sara's house, means a string of out-of-place expletives. I laughed out loud several times when Connor would drop a well-place outburst at the most inappropriate time. A great addition to the Portland Storm series, one that prompted me to go back and re-read the series from the beginning again, loving each book again. Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Catherine Gayle’s Losing an Edge is another perfect addition to the Portland Storm Series. Levi “501” Babcock feels like he is always second best, after his older brother. That is until he meets his teammate’s sister/gold-medal figure skater Cadence Johnson. I feel bad for saying this, but Jamie is still my favorite Storm player/Babcock, but Levi is a really close second - ouch, poor Levi, always in Jamie’s shadow. He is a great guy. I love that he watches Impractical Jokers. He is super sweet. He has a huge heart. I love how is with Sophie, and that she was so involved in this story. He did give the best Valentine’s Day Gift of all time. I do love Levi. It would be really hard living in the shadow of an older brother like Jamie. It helps that Jamie has absolutely no clue, and I’m glad Levi recognized that. The brothers really love each other and are best friends. They are a lot alike, but at the same time two very different people, both amazing in their own way. Cadence is great. I am glad she left her old skating partner to move to Portland. It takes a lot of courage to leave a situation like that. She is talented, brave and a sweet person. She loves her family and cares deeply for her friends. It is understandable why she would initially be cautious of Levi. The two are a cute couple. I loved their chemistry. The plot was emotional and unexpected. Some scary/threatening things happen. As always, Catherine Gayle includes a meaningful subject matter that tugs at your heart. I love how all the little details came together in the end. This is one of those significant books for me that I keep thinking about days after I read it. I love every book in this series. Catherine Gayle keeps amazing me. Complimentary copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Levi and Cadence set the ice on fire in Losing an Edge by Catherine Gayle. Catherine Gayle mixes the importance of family, heart and a sense of belonging to create a story that has a lot to offer. Losing an Edge is not just beautiful words and compromising situations. It is a look at a relationship that grows between two people in a time of need. Ms. Gayle gave a look at the subtle differences with Levi and Cadence families. Cadence needed the love and support of her family during a rough time or she wouldn't have sought them out, but she also felt smothered by their need to protect her. Levi had a family that held an underlying aura of competitiveness that factored into his need to prove himself and affected his relationship with his brother. Losing an Edge was given to me in exchange for an honest review. Have not been reading her contemporary romances for very long but her attention to detail and her focus on social topics that are painful to talk about make for groundbreaking stories. Romance with purpose is my description of the Portland Storm series.
