A CRIME STORY YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST READ!!! A parent's worst nightmare .... a child is abducted, never to be seen again. This is what Curtis Walker faces. His young son was kidnapped 3 years ago .... he's still searching for his son. A former detective, he has dropped off the grid. He's now traveling with a very select, very anonymous group of people ... subsidized by a very rich woman. They find missing children and return them to the parents. Very few people know they exist ... and because of all the laws they break, they have to stay behind the clouds. And somehow, someway, he gets a lead to his own son. But this is only the beginning of this story. What would YOU do if you found the person/persons who took your child and destroyed your life? This is the second book I've read by this author and he is now on my favorites list. The pacing is brilliant ... never slowing for a minute. It's the kind of book the reader will have a hard time putting it down. All the characters do what they do because of something they've survived in the past. One was abducted with her sister when they were kids ... she escaped, her sister was never seen again. Learning all their background stories just added to the whole experience. I highly recommend this for anyone who likes crime stories. This is one of the best! Many thanks to NetGalley / Southern Yellow Pine Publishing for allowing me to read and review. I'm so glad I didn't miss this one!

Reviewed by Chris Fischer for Readers' Favorite Every parent’s worst nightmare comes true in William Mark’s gripping new police thriller, Lost in the Darkness. When Detective Curtis “Curt” Walker’s son, Josh, is kidnapped, he leaves his entire life behind to search for his only son. While he’s desperately looking for leads on Josh, he encounters Alexis Vanderhill, a woman with her own crusade, and agrees to join her and her band of vigilantes. Through a deadly encounter with human traffickers, the group, and their not always 100% legal modes of operation, are discovered by the mainstream police and a journalist with a chip on his shoulder, Tony Mason, who’s determined that his story will make it to print. All Curt really wants is to get his son home, and get to the bottom of why he was taken in the first place. As a father, I felt especially connected to the story in Lost in the Darkness. It was easy to put myself in the place of Detective Walker, and there were times when I was reading that my stomach was actually in a knot as I worried for Josh. Any parent can certainly empathize with Curt, and could certainly imagine doing exactly what he did to get his son back. William Mark’s newest work had me on the edge of my seat, and I stayed up way too late into the night to finish it, determined to learn the outcome of this thrilling book. Mr. Mark’s own life experience as a police officer and detective certainly shine through in the incredibly realistic descriptions and scenarios. Any reader of police procedurals, mysteries or detective novels would love this book. I was happy to see that William Mark is currently working on a new novel, and I, for one, can’t wait to get my hands on it!
