This second installment of this series is a great addition. If you like historical romance set in the Civil War era you will enjoy this book. I really like Lavena and her determination. Her refusal to forgive her father rings true for many of us who have been hurt and struggle to forgive. Cage’s secret and his refusal to give Lavena a fully-truthful interview kept me wondering what he was really hiding. Also, enjoyed the POV Of Nate and what was going on with him. Overall, a very entertaining read. A copy of this book was given to me by the author. All opinions are my own.

1. I love this author. She writes with either Oberlin, Ohio as the center, or Ohio as the connection. I was born and raised in OHio - so I love reading her work. 2. She always crafts unique characters. 3. This book is book 3 in the Ladies of Oberlin series. I have read book 1 but they both can be read as a stand a lone. In this story, we meet a very determined woman. Lavina is DETERMINED to get a good story. SO much so that she travels to the war's front lines. Here she meets Cage. Cage is carrying around his own secrets, hurt and baggage. HE is captivated by Lavina. But can Lavina open up her heart through her own personal pain? As always, Ms. Kraft has done her research to make this story feel real. THe storyline is very intriguing with no dull or stoppage. I look forward to the next edition. I received a copy of this book through the author, all thoughts are my own.

This was a wonderful story set during the civil war. Both of the main characters have some problems that they need to work out before they can really get into a relationship. This story had me crying in many places. I really enjoyed a lot of the minor characters that were in this tale. I did not want to put this book down. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
