After reading the first book I was eager to read the second and was not disappointed. I had a very hard time putting this book down, kept thinking "Just a little more". As in the first book, no unnecessary gore, graphic descriptions, cursing, a good enjoyable read. I kept guessing "who done it" and loved the ending. Get it, read it, well worth it.

I will give it a 5 for not being silly and keeping me guessing.

Very enjoyable read. Really liked the characters and how they interacted. This is the first book I read so now need to go back and read Book #1.

Very good story. I did not figure out "who done it".

The series is getting better as the characters become more well-developed but it still seems to be lacking something. It just doesn't grab your attention the way it should. The storyline is too drawn out. Good concept but large portions are pure boredom. Stephanie Clanahan

When paramedic Zoe Chambers arrives at the scene of an apparent suicide, she can’t help but draw parallels to the death of her great uncles several decades ago in the same barn. Meanwhile, Police Chief Pete Adams uncovers another tie to Zoe’s past in the investigation. Is the modern death a murder or a suicide? What is the connection to Zoe? I’m sorry I waited so long to return to Zoe’s world, but it was fantastic to be back. Zoe and Pete really are co-leads in the series since they split time as our viewpoint characters. In this case, they both have sub-plots involving their parents, as well. The rest of the characters are just as fully developed as our leads. The plot is compelling, always pulling me in and making me reluctant to set the book down. The tone of the book is definitely more somber, and the smattering of language coupled with a few scenes on the edge of being graphic keep it on the traditional side of the spectrum. While not as light as many of the cozies I read, it is still wonderful reading.

I enjoyed this audio book. When a body is found that could be tied in with past deaths you know that you are in for a story of plenty of twists. This had me guessing and second guessing myself, I really had no clue. My husband and I listened to this on a trip and he was like me, we had no clue. When you think you know where this story is going, get ready because it will take you in a different direction. I love the characters and especially the addition of Pete's father, I found him endearing. I will definitely continue on with this series. Warning, there is some strong language in this book, not an over amount but there is some.

Title: Lost Legacy - Zoe Chambers Mystery 2 Author: Annette Dashofy Published: 9-16-14 Publisher: Henery Press Pages: 308 Genre: Mystery, Thrillers & Suspense Sub Genre: Women Sleuths; Cozy Mystery ISBN: 9781940976242 ASIN: B00N0YZJM2 Reviewer: DelAnne Reviewed For: NetGalley . Zoe Chambers is a part-time deputy coroner for Vance Township as well as a local EMT. When she is called to the scene of a body found she finds the property owner hanging from the rafters in the barn. The dead man was dying from cancer so maybe it was a suicide. Then again, maybe not. The scene is eerily similar to when Zoe's two uncles were found hanging from those very same rafters decades before. Her boyfriend, Police Chief Pete Adams has taken on the responsibility of his father who is suffering from Alzheimer. Then Zoe's parents are back in town. As Zoe and Pete join forces to find out the truth about James Eagle's death and keep a handle on their personal lives, the questions unanswered rises. Why have Zoe's parents moved back from Florida so suddenly and why now? Are the deaths of James and Zoe's uncles connected? How does the death of Zoe's father from ears before fit in? Once you begin reading there is no stopping until the last word is read. Lost Legacy is a compelling story that will intrigue you and pull you in until you feel you are right there looking for the clues and evidence. This is the second book of the series, but could be read as a standalone, but the style of Annette Dashofy's writing will have you wanting more. Book 1 - Circle Of Influence and book 3 - Bridges Burned are both available now.

Do you really think your women readers are going to fall for such lines as" Pete cared so much for Zoe that he didn't want her to be hurt by reliving her father's death" we all know men don't have a depth of perception like that !! Come on. Next he'll be riding in on a white stallion. Make it real, this is a fairy tale

Where father got his money in first place and then total rejection of step father where did they live while she grew up? Her training et al seems very poor and she doesnt seem very skilled. Trying to have unskilled people sit for a person in that condition is totally beyond belief and a danger to both if in army could try a va hospital this had no plot to grab hold of and really no likeable character

THis wasn't as cut and dry as it might have been. The man who offed himself was NOT fatally ill. One farmhand seemed to be more concerned about getting the hay in. As the title suggests, there was some discrepancy in the ownership of the land. A book group might like to discuss this.

298 pages, cost $3.99. Book 2 of series. Stand aline. Well edited. Several curse words. No sex. Quite a few murders. More violence than in book one. Several people burned to death which bothers me more than any other type of death. Not a cozy. A really good mystery. No sex. For ages 18 and up. Recommended for all mystery lovers. I love this series and am disappointed there is only one book left. I hope the author writes fast. AD

I've read the first two books in the series, and enjoyed them very much. The characters are believable and the stories are engaging.

Lost Legacy is the story of hidden family secrets. Since everyone has a family of some sort, I think most people will find that intriguing. Zoe Chambers, EMT in Monongahela County PA, didn’t realize there were any family secrets in her family until a farmer turns up dead in a barn that her uncles use to own. When the investigation into the death begins, it gets very personal for Zoe very quickly. Her mom and stepdad coming to visit from Florida don’t help the situation. This is the second mystery in the Zoe Chambers series and I am really enjoying them. In the first one, Circle of Influence, we met our characters, Zoe, Pete, Sylvia, the Krolls, and they became people we could relate to instantly. There wasn’t any of that first-book-in-a-series awkwardness. Now we meet Zoe’s mom and Pete’s dad. The characters become even more 3-dimensional. Annette Dashofy knows how to write realistic characters. This is what I classify as a Contemporary Traditional Mystery. It’s not a cozy but it’s not gritty. The mystery is the focus and it’s well done. There are believable red herring and the answer makes sense with what we’ve read. I’m definitely ready to move on to the next one! Book provided by Netgalley but my reviews are always honest and written for other readers like me.

Love the Zoe Chambers mysteries. The Pa. setting sounds beautiful. Zoe's, almost but not quite, boy friend, police chief has his hands full. Murders and attempted murders, suicides, cold cases, a father who is showing early signs of Alzheimer, and of course Zoe, who can never resist "helping". Zoe is an EMT and is in training to be a Deputy Coroner, so of course she wants to be involved in everything that happens, except of course the upcoming visit of her mother and step-father. This book is a definite must read. and Annette Dashofy has many, I hope, to entertain us with more of Zoe. FTC Full Disclosure - A copy of this book was sent to me by the publisher in hopes I would review it. However, receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review.

Dollycas’s Thoughts Another fabulous story from Annette Dashofy!!! I really love Zoe Chambers. She is such a strong woman. We learned in Circle of Influence, the first book in this series, that her life has not been easy and we find out even more in this installment. I am so glad that her relationship with Chief Pete Adams is moving forward. It is not easy when they are both public servants but they are so good for each other and Zoe needs him in this story more than ever. Zoe’s mother and stepfather play pivotal roles this time and I must say I have great sympathy for Zoe growing up with a mother like Kimberly. But the character that pulled by heartstrings and that was my favorite was Harry, Pete’s father. Harry has Alzheimer’s and Pete’s sister is his usual caregiver. His sister needed a break and brought Harry to stay with Pete unexpectedly. While it wasn’t easy Pete and Zoe and their friends all helped make Harry’s visit work. He also helps solve the mystery and you won’t believe how this all plays out. I do not want to spoil the story so will say no more than that I love Harry Adams and you will too. Dashofy is such a great storyteller. Her writing is so descriptive and her characters are so fleshed out. She paints vivid pictures with her words. She also knows how to keep us on the edge of our seats. I thought my Kindle was going to burn up the pages were flying. The subplots were immersed into the main story line seamlessly. I was riveted to this book from the moment I picked it up until all the mysteries were solved and still didn’t want it to end. This is definitely one of the best books I have read in 2014.

5 STARS This is the second book in the Zoe Chambers Mystery collection. I really like this series of books. Lost Legacy is very good at keeping you guessing what is going on. I really like Zoe, Harry and Pete characters. I laughed with everyone loosing Harry by turning their back for a few minutes. I have not lost a parent that way but a two year old all the time. Lots of suspects, murder and mystery. Zoe Chambers is a Paramedic and deputy corner. She is single and has been flirting with Pete. She takes care of a horse boarding farm, for board for her and her horse. Police Chief Pete Adams is a good cop. His father has Alzheimer's. He has been divorced. He has been flirting with Zoe. Harry Adams has Alzheimer's his daughter has been taking care of him but needs a vacation for a couple of weeks and drops him off without notice. Zoe gets called out to a barn where a farmer is hanged in a barn. She knows that this barn has a weird history. Someone decades ago committed suicide and another man was murdered. Now another death is taking place. It was Zoe's great Uncles. Her mom and grandma think they were both murdered. Her mother and stepfather have come for a visit from Florida. More and more secrets are revealed as they look into this suicide and the two deaths decades ago. They found a letter that hints that Zoe's own fathers death might not be caused by a car accident like she was told. The setting is Monongahela County in southeastern Pennsylvania. Lot of farm country and small town. I read Lost Legacy and did not want to put it down till I was done. I liked the community of characters and would be glad to see them again in a new mystery.
