Overview

If you know her secret, it’s already too late…

Emily Swanson has escaped her troubled past to make a new life in the city. But a disturbing discovery is about to bring her fresh start to an end.

The last person to live in Emily’s new home didn’t move out—she went missing.

Her name was Alina. Some say she ran away from her violent husband. Others believe he’s behind her disappearance. But when a curious Emily starts digging into the hospice where Alina worked, what she finds is worse than anyone imagined.

Alina had a shocking secret. Now Emily knows it too. And if she doesn’t do everything in her power to expose the terrible truth, she’ll be the next to disappear.

I enjoyed this. I got to know a great character. I felt like I was moving through a thick mysterious fog filled with both dark and light spots. Finally at the end it cleared and I was so glad.

Pretty good with several twists. I can usually stay ahead in books like this but this one had a few surprises, though I did eventually figure it out.

I just didn’t enjoy this book. There was enough to draw me in at the beginning but by the time I finished I just didn’t like it and won’t read more about her or this author. It seemed too busy with the back stories.

Second time trying to enter this. This was suspenseful! Poor main character had to move to a new location alone and friendless. This did not help when she decided to solve the mystery. Luckily she made friends of her neighbors which saved her life. I did not know where the story was leading and when it became apparant, that's when the wonderful Surprise hit! I can't wait to read the rest of the series and anticipate more from the author.
