After helping her friends to escape Sindy and her coven, Felicity can still see the "scars" the experience has left on her friends. It also brought her closer to Cain. After needing his "mark" to survive, Felicity does not know if what she feels for Cain is her own feelings or just the after effects of the mark. All she knows is that Cain is a good man and would never hurt her. Deciding to take his relationship with Felicity to the next level, Cain reveals to her all about his past. He hopes she will see what kind of man he is today, and not what he used to be. But Felicity is coming into her own, stepping away from the shy tentative teenager into a strong young woman. Will she accept him for the man he is and not for what he is? Or will the sins of his past tear them apart? This is book 2 of the Almost Human series, Lost Reflections, which takes up where Fatal Infatuation left off. I found that the story just keeps getting better and better. Love the aftermath that their run in with Sindy caused. All of their relationships are changing and makes for additive reading! I could not put it down. I found myself feeling for Cain more so in this book, for his past and what he went through. You will see such developments in all of our beloved characters, with new villains to hate! I am starting volume three, Evolving Ecstasy immediately! I am hooked!

Almost Human-The First Trilogy, is an exciting, paranormal love story told in three books. It should be stressed that these are not stand-alone stories. It is necessary to read them in order, as the action picks up where it leaves off in the previous book. The author does a great job of introducing you to the main characters early on and then wastes no time in getting the action started. In fact, memorable climactic scenes occur in each of the three books in the trilogy, leaving the reader hanging on every word and detail. Character development is done remarkably well, allowing you to get a good glimpse into Felicity and Cain’s personalities. Felicity is a very likeable and resilient, young woman. One moment, she seems mature beyond her eighteen years, being a beacon of light for Cain, offering him the caring and understanding that he has never had. At other times, through her words and actions, you cannot help but see the vulnerability of her age. Cain is a bit of an enigma. He is fully aware of and in tune to the vampire beast inside of himself, but is powerful enough to keep that side in check for the most part, thus holding on to as much of his humanity as he can. He places great value on the fact that his memories and some of his humanity are still intact. This is what draws Felicity to him, his ability to be almost human, many times making her forget what he actually is. Felicity and Cain’s connection to each other can only be described as extremely romantic and intense. While this story might be considered a Young Adult selection because of Felicity’s age, it should be stressed that there is some strong sexual content. What begins as a gentle, tentative relationship between the couple develops into a more mature, sexual relationship as time goes on. They share many tender moments, and as those moments become more sexual in nature, the scenes get pretty racy. Overall though, the author does a fine job in creating these scenes between the two lovers and you are happy that they are together and enjoying each other. The supporting characters, which include Ben, Allie and Sindy, are also developed very well in the three stories. The biggest character metamorphosis of all would probably go to Sindy. She is a pretty sinister character throughout most of the trilogy, but in certain moments of the story, the author allows just a touch of her true personality and vulnerability to show. Certain details come to light towards the end of the trilogy, which give you an understanding as to why Sindy is the type of person she is. You begin to see what Cain sees, that there are still traces of humanity in her that make her worth saving. Ben and Allie, childhood best friends and Felicity’s new friends are extremely enjoyable, and play well off of each other. They have the tendency to bicker like siblings and have many humorous lines throughout. You can’t help but be very fond them. This trilogy is definitely a keeper for anyone looking to get swept into a great paranormal romantic series. The author takes you on an emotional rollercoaster that will have you sitting in suspense one moment, laughing out loud the next, and then crying your eyes out at yet other times. It is definitely a book series that should be read slowly and savored. By the time you have reached the end, you will be craving a continuation. Thank goodness the author is hard at work on completing, Almost Human-The Second Trilogy!
