- Telegy/Time Lapse
- Post Encounter Effect
Prolific, collaboration-happy avant-rock drummers Greg Fox and Kid Millions make up Fox Millions Duo, a noisy, hypnotic improvisational project. The duo's debut recording, Lost Time, was recorded in two separate marathon sessions, and each side-long piece reflects an entirely different state of mind. A-side "Telegy/Time Lapse" is frantic and caustic, with splattering drums endlessly pummeling away, punctuated by electronic noise bursts and distant shouts and wails. The piece is very much in line with the lengthy stamina-testing workouts of Kid Millions' Man Forever project. On the other side of the record, "Post Encounter Effect" is a bit more structured, and feels calm and meditative rather than chaotic. The piece is still directed by pounding drums, but they're only one element, as guitars (even acoustic ones), trumpet, and keyboard swirl and simmer around the percussion. The relaxed, hypnotic nature of the piece is a little surprising coming after the ecstatic first side, but it's calming and welcome nonetheless.
