Love 2 Club: 42 Massive Dance Hits
Comprised of contemporary dance-pop favorites, most of them remixed for club play, Love 2 Club: 42 Massive Dance Hits is a 42-track double-disc compilation released in the United Kingdom by Universal Music in 2010. Some of the biggest names in contemporary dance-pop can be found here, including American superstars Lady Gaga ("Bad Romance"), Black Eyed Peas ("I Gotta Feeling"), and Rihanna ("Russian Roulette") and British superstars N-Dubz ("Playing with Fire"), Calvin Harris ("Ready for the Weekend"), and Cheryl Cole ("3 Words"). The A-list talent found is indeed impressive; however, it's important to note that many of these tracks are remixed, and when they're not, they're featured in radio edit format. While the use of radio edits allows for the high number of tracks per disc, it's also rather maddening to hear great tunes like "Bad Romance" abbreviated for the sake of economy. Beyond the aforementioned superstar tracks, there are a bunch of lesser known tracks by club favorites like Cascada ("Fever"), Inna ("Hot"), and Bob Sinclair ("New New New"). Some of these lesser known tracks are welcome additions to the album, though unfortunately many serve more or less as filler, on the second disc in particular. This is a problem on Love 2 Club: 42 Massive Dance Hits, an album whose primary selling point is its track count rather than its actual content. The dozen or so bona fide "massive dance hits" here are outweighed by a lot of filler and second-rate remixes.
