(3.5 stars) After all the heaviness of A Pound of Flesh this was a cute, sweet and fun novella. I loved getting a glimpse of Kat and Carter happy but I felt a bit gipped that we don’t get to see their big day. I’m hoping to get it eventually if it is through another characters book.

The next book after A Pound of Flesh. I love this little novella, it shows more about Carter and Kat’s story, as they move into the next stage in their lives. We get to meet Max and see how much he affects Carter, battling the past is not always easy. I was very intrigued by this new character and well, I’m looking forward for the next book in the series.

Short sweet novella to get more of Kat and Carter and get ready for Max's book.

This was such a great addition to the series. Kat and Carter are fantastic characters and I adore them together. There were some fun, playful elements in this as well as some heartfelt and loving moments. I love Kat and Carter’s chemistry and connection, they just make me happy. I loved seeing where they were at now and where their relationship is going. There was also a lot of heat mixed in as well, this novella packed a punch! I thought it all had a great balance. Really good flow throughout, nice development, a little bit of tension but no major drama. It was wonderful catching up with other characters and after reading this, I am even more anxious for Max's story. I love the friendship and bond that he and Carter share and I can’t wait to get more of it. This was definitely a fun read, just the right mix of hot and sweet! Love and Always is just what I needed to make the wait for An Ounce of Hope a bit more bearable. Continuing exactly where A Pound of Flesh ended, Love and Always checks in with Carter and Kat; taking us through the holidays and into the new year. The best part about this book though is how it sets everything up so well for An Once of Hope. The cast of characters that Sophie Jackson has brought to life is a tightly woven group. Many of them have secrets and pasts that can be understood by few. Max, Carter's best friend, is in rehab battling a past that wont let go. In Love and Always we are introduced to how much Max has to overcome, as well as how much this affects Carter. Max is Carter's family, to see him hurting and knowing he still has so much to overcome is difficult for Carter. While Carter's life is moving forward, Max is battling his past. Carter would do anything for Max, but this is something Max has to fight on his own. Sophie Jackson has me hooked on the A Pound of Flesh series. The characters are real and raw and battle real-life issues that has me rooting for their happiness and success. It is characters and stories like this that keep me in love with reading.
