About the Author

Zara Keane grew up in Dublin, Ireland, but spent her summers in a small town very similar to the fictitious Ballybeg.

She currently lives in Switzerland with her family. When she's not writing or wrestling small people, she drinks far too much coffee, and tries - with occasional success - to resist the siren call of Swiss chocolate.

This book was a great read the characters were different funny and I love reading about Ireland the little bit of Irish added to the story and it wasn't much different than any other Irish or Scotish.

This was such a fun and entertaining book to read. The very quirky people plus the very annoying ones in the town make a fantastic story.

Love and Shenanigans is the first book in the Ballybeg series by new to me author Zara Keane. This book introduces the reader to two wonderful characters, Fiona Byrne and Gavin Maguire and many other supporting characters in and around the charming town of Ballybeg. Fiona has come to Ballybeg to participate in her cousin, Muireann’s wedding to Gavin. Fiona has been in love with Gavin for as long as she can remember and after a drunken one night stand in Vegas 8 years before, Fiona knows that Gavin does not feel the same for her. As if that humiliation isn’t bad enough, Fiona experiences the ultimate fashion emergency which exposes her backside to Gavin. On the morning of the wedding, Fiona and her best friend discover that the drunken night Fiona and Gavin had in Vegas was actually a drunken wedding night. As soon as Fiona discovers she and Gavin are married, she tries to do the right thing, even when unforeseen events cause her to extend her stay in Ballybeg, postponing her world trip adventure to Singapore and Australia. I really enjoyed this story. The story moves smoothly and I did not want to put the book down. This book had so many laugh out loud moments and also includes a little bit of a mystery surrounding Fiona’s grandmother’s last will and testament. Add in some very hot and sensual passion between Gavin and Fiona and you have a book that has it all. The author does a fabulous job of bringing these characters to life. As a reader, it is important to me to feel connected to the characters. Fiona and Gavin were wonderful and easy to relate to. Ms. Keane takes it one step further and does a brilliant job of bringing the less desirable characters to life that elicited strong feelings of dislike. I could not stand Fiona’s cousin Muireann initially. I found her to be selfish, vain and spoiled. By the end of the book, I felt sorry for her, but not enough to go out of my way to help her. She may be redeemable in the future but not her father. Fiona’s Uncle Bernard is truly despicable and I wouldn’t wish him as a father-in-law on anyone. Fiona’s Aunt Bridie was wonderful and I loved the bond she and Fiona share. I loved that the characters in this book are not afraid to speak their mind, no matter how profane their thoughts or with fear of who they may offend. My Final Verdict: This is a wonderful start to a series that will be a fun adventure in reading. I am looking forward to getting to know more of the characters and reading their stories, especially Gavin’s friend, Jonas and Fiona’s friend, Olivia. If you are looking for a book that will make you laugh and fan yourself at the same time, give Love And Shenanigans a try. Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of Love And Shenanigans from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is not the genre that I typically read. That being said, I LOVED this book and plan on reading the rest of the books in this series. It was very well written and made the characters come to life in such as way, that it was as if a movie was playing in my head every time I picked up the book. It also had great banter and humor. I physically laughed out loud at certain parts, causing my husband to question my sanity I'm sure. There were great trials and tribulations, both externally and internally, for the characters to overcome. I was very invested, to the point where I wanted to slap a person or two along the way. If a book can cause me to feel this array of emotions, then it is definitely a winner. I highly recommend the BallyBeg series to anyone who enjoys romance with a side of humor.

Who can resist and Irish love story with a heroine who wears a lip ring and protects a fairy tree, or a hero who is allergic to dogs but takes in a labradoodle and faces up to his mistakes. Fun to read. Looking forward to reading otherd in the series.

This book was not one that held my interest. 253 pages took me 3 days to read, kept dosing off. GJRA

It was hard enough for Fiona to attend her cousin's wedding to the man she has always loved but to find out that when she was in Las Vegas with him 8 years ago and got married one drunken night meant they were still married, she was in a real mess. Should she tell him or not? This is a funny romance with even funnier characters. Well most of them anyway. Fiona is the complete opposite to her cousin, Muireann. Fiona is an easy going woman who always wants to do the right thing, even if it puts her out. Like staying in Ballybeg to run her aunt's bookstore when she needs a hip replacement, putting off the world trip she had been planning and saving for years. Gavin tries to be the opposite of his mother so he always acts quite proper. This leads to his engagement to Muireann. She is very, very snooty, looking down on everybody - especially Fiona. But her father, Bernard, is a horrible person, almost making Muireann look nice. If you want a romantic comedy that will keep you laughing all the way through, I recommend this book.

I didn't enjoy this book at all. The Irish lingo was too heavy; most of the characters had no redeeming qualities; the men were too submissive in my eyes. They cursed too much and the story didn't catch my attention. I found myself skip reading through most of it.

So poorly written it is hard to finish. I am not sure what Gavin sees or saw in either woman. The situations are ridiculous, the dog eating clothes, the color of the dresses, maybe it's me but I can't find humor in it. I don't see the attraction either or really any depth to the characters.
