Love at First Bark (Love Unleashed Series) (Free Short Story) by Dana Mentink

There's Just Something About Jackson

When Marcy Deveraux's romance series catapults to the top of the New York Times bestseller list, no one is more surprised than Marcy herself. After all, she barely passed high school, flunked the driving test four times, and fell into a pool at her sister's wedding.

Marcy is keen to continue her literary success, but she cannot think of a single idea for her next book. Hounded by her agent, family, and friends, she decides to sequester herself in a rustic cabin in the mountains. There, she finds herself face-to-snout with a surprise visitor—a rascally black dog who must have escaped from his owner at a nearby campground.

Enter hunky cowboy Jackson Parker, who runs the stables for the campground and helps Marcy survive the antics of the ill-behaved, zany dog. There's something tender and gentle about this man, who could easily grace the cover of any romance novel. Soon Jackson has Marcy rethinking her own beliefs about what heroes are really made of...and what God intends for her life.

It's cowboys, canines, and capers galore in this charming novella for animal lovers.

Predictable plot with average writing and descriptive skills. The general premise was decent, with the male love interest being your average Joe type as opposed to the extremely overused "hero" character typical to most romance stories. Overall, l gave this a 3/5 because I felt that while the idea for the story was good, the deliverance left me wanting something more.

Was a well paced story that kept my attention. Will look for more from this author.

This was a sweet novella. Marcy thinks that God wants her to be a novelist since she has written 3 books that made it big. She writes romances with larger-than-life heroes. Jackson helps her realize her true passion and perhaps her true destiny as well as seeing heroes in ordinary people. This book is only about 50 pages but it is cute with a nice message as well. Charlie the dog is adorable too!

Love At First Bark is a fairly quick read by Dana Mentink. This is a well-written book. Ms. Mentink has delivered lovable characters that make this a fun book to read. Marcy and Jackson's story is full of drama, humor and is a clean read. I enjoyed this book. Love At First Bark is part of the Love Unleashed Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I love Dana Mentink's 'Love Unleashed' series. This one is a novella and it is absolutely precious. I loved Charlie, the little dog in this story and just wanted him for my own! It's only 60 pages and won't take you long to read, but it will just bless your heart.
