Love at First Roar by Celia Kyle

What happens when a half-blind weremole girl falls for a scarred werebear guy? A match made in furry, dirt-caked heaven. Mostly.

Weremole Kira Kolanowski has spent twenty-nine-ish years of her life half-blind and occasionally half-dead. (Her family isn't exactly loving.) In an effort to remain fully alive, she moves to Grayslake, Georgia, with her poor excuse for a guide dog-a guide dog who decides to lift his leg and relieve himself on sexy-smelling werebear Isaac Abrams' belongings. And when he roars...well, it makes her heart go pitter-patter and other parts go "ooh baby, ooh baby." Just when she thinks she might have found happiness, a raving she-bitch werebear chick tries to kill her with the same poison that scarred Isaac to hell and back. The poison that Kira's family happens to manufacture...

Isaac Abrams is leaving Grayslake. He's tried, lord how he's tried, to settle into life in Grayslake after the birth of his niece, but it's not happening. He's been home for a year, and it's been 365 plus days of women looking past him and flat-out pretending he doesn't exist. The battle with the hyenas didn't just ruin his face, it ruined his chances at finding a mate in his hometown. So, he's leaving. Or he was leaving until one day a lush, curvaceous weremole wanders into his half-packed house with that damned peeing dog of hers...it's a good thing she's so gorgeous.

Maybe he will stay-stay and keep Kira Kolanowski all to himself. Well, once he kills everyone who's trying to kill her.

A perfect perfectly imperfect couple! Love at First Roar is the latest in the Grayslake series, but can be read as a stand alone and you still know what is going on. Isaac is the clan's werebear healer and has terrible facial scars from a previous encounter with a group of hyenas. The men of the clan applaud his courage, while the women shrink away from his scars. Kira is the almost blind weremole who came to Grayslake seeking a new clan where she can be safe from the attacks of her previous clan. Not only is she nearly blind, but she has her own scars inside and out to deal with. Now this sounds like it could be a very serious book, but Celia Kyle takes these two imperfect people and creates the most beautiful story around them that has you laughing out loud and tearing up at different times. Throw in the lovable, goofy, drooling, leg lifting, lousy guide dog, Ebenezer, and you have a most delicious story of love and strength of will to overcome past tragedies. I have to admit, I was never a fan of shifter stories until I came across Celia Kyle's books. The combination of funny, tenderness and drama with imperfect characters has me buying everything this woman writes! After all, isn't that what you read for - to escape to another world that is fun to be in!

shifters, audiobook, family-dynamics, clan-feud, romance, pet, blindness The scarred bear healer and the mostly blind weremole find that Daddy Bear is the best ally anyone could hope for, and that the past of other kinds of shifters is not at all an open book. The usual fine storytelling, fascinating characters, and vivid imagery make this a great read! Kendall Taylor really adds to the book with her narration.

Another well written book. Again the amazing love and bonding between the couple was awesome. The story line was great and broke your heart over what kira went through in her past. The only issue I have with this book and every book in this series is the secondary characters. It makes no sense that TY would not be enraged to the point of killing when a certain female almost killed his brother. He was mad at his brother and not sure to believe his bro over the clan female when it was beyond obvious she was guilty. He spouted that he needed to protect his clan excuse and was taking the clan, yet, issac was clan too AND his brother who she almost killed. That would only happen if there was serious HATE between the brothers so that whole issue of the brothers against each other made no sense whatsoever to me. I also still dislike the good and somewhat good guys having viscious needs to hurt or kill females who are essentially harmless. That screams of cowardis to me...reid...who was again violent to a harmless female amd called her a nasty name on top of it all. but aside from that as its not a large part of this book this time thankfully, it was still a great book and well written. I loved the dogs various last names that were different every time she called him, that was super cute.

Were-mole. What next? Were-bugs? Hah! The were-cockroach would be like the one in MIB 1! Sorry, even if the heroine's likeable, I really couldn't get over a shifter being a mole. Shifters to me are the predator types, those makes sense to me. But prey shifters? Hell mole, makes me think of lab rats.

To get full effect of this shifter series read in order, however every book can be read on own. I can't wait for the next book in series, hopefully reid? Waiting very impatiently?

I enjoyed every one of the books in this series but this one was the best!! Issac and Kira are just so normal and flawed that their finding each other was sooo sweet!!! Kira being almost blind and after the torture from her father and brother, so timid and untrusting then you have Issac sexy and scarred. Put them together and you have a beautiful love story! After every thing they had been through they deserved to find love!!!

Love at first Roar is another great book in the Grayslake series.  Weremole Kira Kolanowski & werebear Isaac Abrams story. I was waiting for Isaac story and it lived up to all the others. Kira has escaped the horrors of  living with her father & brothers pack and Isaac  wants a mate just like his brothers but is  leaving Grayslake as he feels that no female will look past his scars. Once he meets Kira of course that all changes. There are funny moments and some tender moments and hot, hot loving. This series is great and what I love about it is you  get more information on the previous books characters and hear what has gone on with them. 5 Stars for me!
