Love Child by A.M Torres

Tommy Hulette never asked to be born. Everyone wants to make him regret it even so.
Tommy Hulette hates his ghetto Brooklyn neighborhood. He's content living with his beautiful mother, his loyal caring father, his little sister Greta. He enjoys playing stickball with neighborhood friends then really perks up when he meets beautiful and interesting Stephanie from Starrett City.
But Tommy's world is shattered forever. His mother becomes terribly unhappy and commits suicide. Things go downhill completely when his father decides he needs time to cope with the tragedy, sending Tommy and his sister to live with a brother Tommy never heard about. He promises that it will be for a short spell until he can come back for them.
He doesn't and it doesn't take long for Tommy to discover how this brother hates him and has since birth. He wants to punish Tommy for events occurred long before Tommy's birth...Then it gets worse as he wants Tommy to end his life just like his mother...and to this Tommy is pushed and pushed and pushed...
Pushed to the limit, and with no one to turn to, Tommy takes solace in his sister's company and letters he receives from Stephanie. Will he be able to cling to life, and not succumb like his mother?

wow. Poor Tommy. I kept looking for him to get a break but no one wanted to bother with him after his mother died, not his despicable father, and not that horrible sadistic brother, who hates him so much. He endures a lot maybe too much, but it was still an interesting read. Tommy's problems are not only from living in the ghetto he moves on to a more volatile environment where every day is a struggle just to live and whether he should or shouldn't. The only good thing to happen to him was meeting the sweet Stephanie Mandan. Their scenes together were my favorites but we don't get enough of them. Can't wait for the next book for there should be a sequel for sure.

Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. I was drawn into the life of the main character rooting for him and his sister. Such horrible things they faced! Yet Tommy (the main character) kept such an amazing optimistic attitude. At some points I thought it couldn't get any worse, and it would. The ending left some hope, but also left you longing for the next book to come out to see what happens next!

I recommend this book is not your everyday read, but definitely keep your interest from chapter to chapter. Each chapter has their own personality and unique style, and flows very well from one chapter to the next. This story is very well written, although, a bit despondent it's actually believable as life is not always a fairytales with happy endings.

Excellent job by the Author. Book was full of suspense from beginning till end. You couldn't help but feel bad for the main characters as they kept going through one obstacle after another. The story left me very interested in what hopefully will be a sequel to this story. Thumbs up & recommended.
