Overview

Love Comes to Paradise is the second book in bestselling author Mary Ellis’s New Beginnings series. It’s about fresh starts…and how faith in God and His perfect plans provide the peace and joy all long for.

Nora King believes she is a woman in love. When Elam Detweiler leaves the ultraconservative Amish district of Harmony, Maine, and moves to Paradise, Missouri, Nora follows soon after. But does she love the man or the independence and freethinking he represents? Although she finds good work in her new town, Nora can’t seem to capture Elam’s Englisch-leaning heart, no matter how hard she tries.

And then, unexpectedly, Lewis Miller comes from Harmony to offer Nora what every woman needs—a lifetime of unconditional love. As Lewis attempts to claim her heart, Elam’s interest piques. Will Nora come to her senses before Elam’s thoughtless choices ruin her reputation beyond repair?

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

“Wow, does Mary Ellis deliver again! I completely fell in love with Amy, Nora’s sister in Living in Harmony and never thought I could enjoy getting to know Nora the same way in Love Comes to Paradise—I was wrong. Ms. Ellis has a way of turning words on a page into real life, living breathing people who I want to not only know, but become lifelong friends with. She truly has a gift of weaving spiritual truths into a great story that already has many surprises, twists and turns, and secrets. “
Cheri Swalwell

“Mary Ellis does a fantastic job of making the reader care about the people of Paradise.”
—Michelle Durben, DestinationAmish.com

Love Comes to Paradise is a wonderfully complex, yet refreshingly simple story of work, love, friendship, and faith among realistic Amish characters who struggle with genuine issues. In short, it's a perfect Mary Ellis novel: well-plotted, beautifully written, and positive without being saccharine. If you already love Amish fiction, this new novel will delight you. If you're a newcomer to the genre, the New Beginnings series is a great place to start.”
Mary K. Johnson

Love Comes to Paradise is an enjoyable tale of a rocky road to maturity and accepting God’s grace.”
Terri Wangard

“I recommend this book to everyone. Mary is a wonderful Christian writer and I love her writing.”
—Lois Klobucher

“As usual when I read a novel by Mary Ellis, I laughed and cried the whole way through. Ellis is a skilled storyteller and I like how she has researched different Amish in different areas. Best of all are the characters—realistic and funny. Well done!"

Two Suitors. What’s a girl to do? Nora King has her problems. She followed Elam Detweiler to Paradise, Missouri, but now entertains doubts about him. Lewis Miller followed her to Paradise and he’s wonderful, but she doesn’t want to go back to Harmony, Maine with him. Nora’s hosts, Jonas & Emily Gingerich, are a good couple, but they have no children. Emily enjoys reading the history of their area and believes the misfortunes of the past came from God’s displeasure and mirror their present time. Minister Trask hears of her discoveries and uses them as ammunition for his fire-and-brimstone sermons. Hard to believe he’s the father of the fun-loving Violet, Nora’s new best friend. Elam’s frustrated over Nora’s aversion to his drinking and kissing, and outraged that she should prefer Lewis. He sows discord and slanders her character. A tornado rips through Paradise. Homes are destroyed and lives lost, but some good does come. Solomon Trask has some sense knocked into him. Elam’s rough edges are smoothed a bit. Jonas and Emily gain a family. And Nora finds her happily ever after. In turn you’ll root for Nora as she plants her life on solid ground, want to slap Solomon Trask silly, desire to reason with Emily, and long to give Elam the boot. An enjoyable tale of a rocky road to maturity and accepting God’s grace.

Wow! Mary Ellis knocked one out of the park with this book! I could hardly put it down. Good thing it has just been a relaxing day around my house...perfect for reading. Love Comes to Paradise is the second book in the New Beginnings series. I absolutely recommend this book for fans of Christian and Amish fiction. It was full of interesting characters, decisions to be made, catastrophe and love. Nora moves to Paradise to follow Elam Detweiler, who continues to straddle the fence between the Amish world and the Englisch world. Back in Harmony, Maine, Nora was intrigued with Elam. However, his antics in Paradise are making Nora question whether she loves him. And into the story walks Lewis Miller, who himself has followed the woman he loves to Paradise...and that woman is Nora. They met in Maine and Lewis is determined to marry Nora. Nora has some big decisions to make in the book and the story is highly enjoyable. I am really looking forward to reading the third book in the series.

Have you ever wished you had done something, anything, differently? I have. And so does Nora King in Mary Ellis' Love Comes to Paradise. She left Lancaster to hide from her past. She leaves Harmony to find peace. And she ends up in Paradise. She finds a new friend and the man she believes to be her future. Love Comes to Paradise is book two in The New Beginnings series, but can be read as a stand-alone. Mary Ellis reminds u that we all have flaws, but that love covers a multitude of sins. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and if you like Amish romance, you will too. ***I received this book from the publisher/author for purposes of review. The above opinion is my own.***

LOVE COMES TO PARADISE by Mary Ellis is an exciting Amish Romance set in Paradise, Missouri. #2 in "The New Beginnings" series, but can be read as a stand alone. Nora King follows Elam Detweiler from Harmony, Maine to Paradise, Missouri, what she finds is a community a many unexpected decisions. For she can't seem to capture Elam's heart no matter what she tries.Elam is leaning toward Englisch ways instead of the Amish ways. But Lewis Miller, wishes to capture Nora and her heart. Nora is free thinking, rebellious and will capture your heart. If you enjoy Amish, and romance you will enjoy "Love Comes to Paradise". No doubt love is definitely in Paradise. A wonderful fast read. Ms. Ellis is a great storyteller who engages the readers heart and soul. Received for an honest review from the publisher and Wynn-Wynn Media,LLC. RATING: 4 HEAT RATING: SWEET REVIEWED BY: AprilR, My Book Addiction Reviews

When Elam Detweiler leaves Nora King’s overly conservative Amish district of Harmony, Maine, Nora follows him. Is she really expecting sparks to fly when Elam knows she’s in Paradise, Missouri? She corresponds with Lewis Miller whom she knew in Harmony. With Lewis’s appearance Elam’s interest in Nora increases. Ellis writes the Amish stories with feelings and facts. She draws her characters so we feel we know them and their dilemmas. Nora must choose between bad-boy Elam and her Amish faith with Lewis.

FANTASTIC READ Mary has another winner with this book, this is the second in the  series, even if you did not read the first book you will be able to follow this story line. In this  book you will find love, faith, and forgiveness, it is a real page turner and I recommend this book to everyone who loves a good Christian book

Nora King moved to Paradise, Missouri for one reason: to follow a man she thinks she may love. Elam Detweiler, who likes fast cars and the freedom they represent, can't decide whether he wants to remain Amish and pursue Nora or seize is freedom and move in a larger world. Then Nora's former friend, Lewis Miller, arrives from conservative Harmony, Maine and--well, as they say, the plot thickens. Receiving a new Marry Ellis book signals that it's time to make a cup of tea and cuddle down in a comfortable chair to enjoy it. I expecially like ehr New Beginnigs series, prompted by an actual need in today's Amish community to expand beyond some of their traditional areas due to a critical lack of available and affordable farmland there. Each settlement in this Amish diaspora develops a set of unique mores and practices that give it a flavor of its own. Paradise turns out to be perfect for Nora, who finds a job she loves and a new friend she enjoys there. It's generous enough in spirit and in practice that it even accommodates the rebellious Elam. But is it too relaxed for the conscientious Lewis? Who will Nora choose and where will that choice take her in the future? These questions are all part of this new novel, a story of work, love, friendship, and faith among realistic and imperfect but sincere Amish characters who struggle with genuine issues. In short, it's a perfect Mary Ellis novel: well-plotted, beautifully written and positive without being saccharine. If you already adore Amish fiction, this new novel will delight you. If you're unfamiliar with the genre, the New Beginnings series is a great place to start.

I just finished reading Love Comes to Paradise, the second book in The New Beginnings series by Mary Ellis. Wow does she deliver again! I completely fell in love with Amy, Nora’s sister in Living in Harmony and never thought I could enjoy getting to know Nora the same way. I was wrong. Ms. Ellis has a way of turning words on a page into real life, living breathing people who I want to not only know, but become lifelong friends with. There are so many aspects of Ms. Ellis’ writing that I love, but I have to admit her theme of mercy and grace that is evident in all she writes is by far my favorite. Maybe it’s because I am married to a man who emulates those same traits in his daily life or maybe it’s because the characteristics she gives to her male characters are so evident in our Heavenly Father. I love how Ms. Ellis uses daily dialogue in her stories to portray that grace and mercy instead of saving it to for preaching services or a grand finale at the end. She truly has a gift of weaving spiritual truths into a great story that already has many surprises, twists and turns, and secrets. I love, too, how she neatly ties up all the questions and loose ends in this book while setting up adventure for Book #3. Ms. Ellis has a gift of storytelling that captures romance, mystery, and adventure, all with spiritual truths. I couldn’t put Love Comes to Paradise down and was incredibly sad when I reached the end, wanting to continue my friendship with this great community. I truly can’t wait to see what Ms. Ellis has in store for us in her next book in the series, A Little Bit of Charm. I know that I will fall in love with the rest of the family, just as I have so far with who I’ve been introduced to already. I just hope it doesn’t take too long to be released.
