Love Hurts: The True Story of a Teen Romance, a Vicious Plot, and a Family Murdered by Keith Elliot Greenberg

Alba, Texas. In 2008, Terry Caffey, a home health care aide and aspiring preacher, was asleep in his bedroom when he woke up to a barrage of bullets. His wife, Penny, was killed instantly. With blood pouring from five bullet wounds, among other serious injuries, Terry tried—but failed—to save his two youngest children before crawling out of his burning house. Meanwhile, Terry's sixteen-year-old daughter, Erin, was missing…

Once Erin was found by local authorities, she claimed she had been kidnapped—but could not remember the details. It wasn't until Terry was fully conscious that he could explain what had really happened: He'd been shot, point-blank, by two young men. One of them he did not know; the other was Charlie James Wilkinson. Charlie was Erin's nineteen-year-old boyfriend, forbidden from entering the Caffey home. Until Erin helped Charlie come up with a plan to do away with her disapproving parents once and for all…

A very scary story that is told the way a true crime story should be told. This author has it down pat. You get to know all the characters and you learn about the crime in great detail and it never gets boring like some true crime does when they retell the whole story by printing the trial word for word. I was completely mesmerized the whole time I was reading which was not too long because I never wanted to put it down. I would love to see more true crime writers take a lesson here and leave out the trial. The story can be told without all of that boring gibberish.

Looks at both sides of the story, not just one side. Very interesting!

Just a frightening story. How could this have happened? The daughter came from a good Christian family. Whether it was her plan or Charlie's plan, a good Christian with Christian values would never had even thought ofsuch a solution. Girl isno good.

HOW did we not hear about this case on the television? Where was Nancy Grace?? Complete insanity. I don't want to include spoilers, but you won't be disappointed. It's well written and holds your attention until the gritty conclusion. I would have liked it if photos had been included, although it was easy enough to look them up online. Shocking!

There were SEVERAL typos and it ran down so many rabbit trails, it drove me nuts! I finished reading because I wanted to know what happened to the criminals.

This book was about a daughter who seemed to have a great childhood with loving parents although they seemed a bit over protective. things seem fine until she meets a boy her parents disapprove of, that's when she and her boyfriend start plotting to get rid of her whole family, including her two innocent little brothers. And on a quiet dark night the blood bath began.
