Love in a Sandstorm (Pine Harbour, #6) by Zoe York

Captain Sean Foster came back from war broken from the inside out. And he doesn't care about being fixed. Not even by a woman who followed him halfway around the world due to some misguided loyalty.

Jenna Kowalczyk had two weeks with a man who stole her heart. They promised each other forever, but one brutal explosion proved that promise to be paper-thin.

She should leave him in the past. That's what he wants her to do. But from the second the determined midwife shows up in Pine Harbour, she knows she's staying--no matter how much heartache is in store for her.

WOW! This story is a poignant, emotional and intense that is also beautifully romance!! This story tugged at my heartstrings! Sean is a soldier in the Canadian army that is wounded in battle right after meeting the love of his life. Jenna, is a midwife working just outside the war zone. She is strong, independent and has an ability of seeing the positive in any situation. When Sean and Jenna meet the sparks fly and then real life rears it's ugly head. One of the best romances I've read!

military, midwife, TBI, grieving, recovery, relationships, Canada Most of the book is written alternately balancing the whirlwind love-into-marriage with the post TBI present as time moves along. The character of Sean is spot on for a military victim of TBI, and Jenna demonstrates the positive aspects of someone in love with a person who doesn't know how to cope with the devastating changes that have occurred in life. All of the characters are engaging and intriguing, and the plot is well crafted. Disclaimer-I worked with patients who had brain injuries for a number of years.

I knew Sean's book was going to be an emotional read and I was right. Zoe York has written a beautiful, heartfelt book that will keep you reading far into the night. You can tell what a terrific author Zoe is by the way she tears at your heartstrings one minute and then has you laughing the next. Sean and Jenna meet overseas. He's a Captain with the Canadian Armed Forces and Jenna is a midwife serving with Doctors Without Borders. One morning, fate has them reaching for the same apple at breakfast. When their leave happens, they decide to vacation together. At first, they're thinking this will just be a fling, but they soon realize it is so much more. No spoilers, so I highly recommend this book to anyone that has never read any of Zoe's books or to anyone that loves a wonderful romance.

First of all, I have to make perfectly clear that I love the Pine Harbour series and Zoe York as an author. I have read each book and it seems that they are getting better and better. This one is special though... Sean Foster is the youngest Foster brother and is a professional runner and a military man. He met Jenna, a midwife, in Urfa, Turkey at a refugee camp and they spend a 2 week holiday together that develops in a wedding. After that Sean is severely injured at the war and Jenna comes back to Pine Harbour to help him in his recovery. I know this seems an easy breezy story, but in reality it is one love story that I will ever forget. Sean and Jenna's love has depth, sorrow and the book is full of wonderful scenes that make it unforgettable. It is honest in Sean's disabilities and in Jenna strength in helping him to overcome so many obstacles. Pine Harbour is a special series but this book is the epitome and will be remembered.

It feels like it's been a long time since I visited Pine Harbour but this book definitely made the wait worth while!! It's a fantastic story of love found, love lost, and love rediscovered!! Sean Foster and Jenna Kowalczyk met a world away from home and under some tough circumstances. Yet, one 2 week leave and a passionate whirlwind of events tie these two together forever. Regardless of how many times Sean tries to push her away, Jenna is in it for the long haul. Her undying determination is what gets them to their HEA. This one needs to be on everyone's must read list. I highly recommend it

OK, I just received a kick in the pants! What for, you ask? Love in a Sandstorm did a major as…er butt kicking on me, reminding me of why Zoe York is one of most favorite authors in the world! I was gifted with an advanced copy of this book for my honest opinion. And let me tell you this, YOU ABSOLUTELY CANNOT GO WRONG READING THIS PHENOMENAL BOOK!!! I loved watching the whirlwind romance develop between Sean and Jenna. Jenna’s mom would definitely say it happened too fast, but, when you know, you know. They take a vacation together and decide to marry by the end of it. They agree to keep the marriage a secret and return to their regular lives, until the end of the current assignments. This is partly to protect Jenna, as she is married to an officer, as she serves as a midwife for Doctors without Borders in Turkey. However, tragedy happens and Sean is severely injured. Jenna does not find out until he has returned home to Canada. Because of his injuries, Sean has decided he is going to let Jenna go, and let her find someone she deserves. But, Jenna has other plans. She moves to Pine Harbour and is determined to prove to Sean that their marriage is worth fighting for. This book is a panty melting, emotional roller coast ride of a book. This phenomenal book gives the reader some insight on what families and friends go thru when their loved one returns home injured. Ms. York has that way of drawing her readers in in a way that makes them see absolutely EVERYthing. Thank you for reading my review. Now, what are you waiting for, go pre-order/order this book, you will not be sorry.
