If you love PG Wodehouse, than you'll love this!! I actually like it better than anything of his, and I love him! This is comic genius with a wonderful pair for the romantic leads - much more comedy than romance and very clean. Reminiscent of the wit of the silver screen - probably those other writers were very influenced by Earl Derr Biggers. Or they should have been! :) I stumbled upon this novel by accident, and I haven't enjoyed or been this excited about a new book in years!! It's like discovering Georgette Heyer or PG Wodehouse for the first time! But set in America, which is so exciting and relateable on a whole different level! Very different from other North American works from the same time period - the whole time I was reading, I couldn't believe ths book was published in 1914 as it feels so modern! And yet, at the same time, it has a sweetness, hope and lack of cynacism that was lost and never regained after the whole world errupted into the great misery of the war... I believe his other works are quite different from this offering, but I'll have to check them out! Highly recommend this! I rarely write reviews, but this book deserved a smashing one!
