Love on a Half Shell by Elvy Howard

A shell is a hard object-tough. It can withstand the ocean's pounding for long stretches of time.

A shell is also cupped. It can hold tender things, protect them and allow them to grow.

Meet Rae Green, a thirty-something woman who has made a few mistakes and doesn't flinch from acknowledging them. She's a tough cookie with a good heart, and she's just been handed her sister's kids.

Three parts love, two parts grit - Love on a Half Shell by debut novelist Elvy Howard is the perfect recipe to save a family.

About the Author

When Elvy Howard was twelve or thirteen she was so flattered to be asked, she agreed to go fishing with her father so early one morning it was still dark. Hours later, after being warned more than once to keep her trap shut or she’d scare away the fish, sleepy, hungry and bored to death, she made a solemn vow to never marry a salesman, like her dad, who was never at home. She’d also vowed to avoid fisherman who weren’t much fun even if he was there.

Of course she ended up marrying a guy that was both and having two children along the way. Now, still married after forty years and with grown kids, she is a devoted to her family and her writing.

Over the course of her working life she was the first female hired as a service representative by Pitney Bowes, an adult student with a variety of jobs in catering and group homes for kids while studying for a social work degree. She ended up with a Master’s degree in Social Work and was employed in juvenile justice, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and hospice. She and her salesman/fisherman husband currently own their own business and she privately counsels a few clients on bereavement, adult ADHD issues and life coaching those facing unwelcome transitions.
