Love, Shelby [Original Version]

Love, Shelby [Original Version]

by Shelby Lynne

Country expatriate Shelby Lynne continues her march away from the Nashville sound with a full-bodied embrace of the rock 'n' soul hybrid she unleashed on I Am Shelby Lynne, the crossover album that won her a belated Best New Artist Grammy. With rock producer Glen Ballard (Alanis Morissette, Dave Matthews) guiding the proceedings, Love, Shelby stirs up plenty of Sheryl Crow-style guitar rock with a dash of Dusty in Memphis and a touch of Diana Krall’s slinky cool, but without the open-wound emotional flood that characterized some of the songs on Lynne's previous album. Lynne sings with exquisite vulnerability and soul on the tender, pining single “Wall in Your Heart” and on her naked cover of John Lennon’s “Mother,” then lets her hair down in the seductive torch song “Tarpoleon Napoleon.” “Killin’ Kind,” a song also featured on the Bridget Jones’s Diary soundtrack, is a piece of dynamic, sure-handed rock -- one that moves from a gentle takeoff to soaring heights thanks to an unstoppable, triumphant pop chorus. As always, producer Ballard knows when to crank up the guitars, but his brushstrokes take care to accentuate Lynne’s warm melodies, especially on the airy, effect-textured “All of a Sudden You Disappeared.”

have you heard this? Have YOU heard THIS? it is so good. I didn't think anyone that looked this good could be this talented. Everything about this record screams amazing-the lyrics, the guitar, her voice-everything. If you are a music fan, I highly suggest picking this album up.

This is as good as it gets boys and girls. Shelby Lynne has been a phenomenal pop artist for years, but only now is she getting the recognition that she deserves. The critics are raving about this album - as they should because it is amazing. It displays her ability to make bueatiful and fun music. This album comes highly reccomended from me and heards of album critics that know their stuff.
