Fall in love with the Lawson Brothers, a sexy, new contemporary romance series from New York Times Bestselling author Marquita Valentine.
Love So True, Book 2 in the Lawson Brothers
Single mom, Bailey Yates, has had enough of bad boys to last her the next eighteen years. She's always been a sucker for them, and Jessamine's ultimate bad boy, Lucas Lawson, is no exception for her. So, when he returns to town, naturally she's drawn to him. And naturally, she must avoid him at all costs--no matter how attracted she is to him. She'll give him a job, and keep her distance...until Lucas saves her son from a hit and run.
Finally, Lucas Lawson is a free man. After serving five years in prison for embezzlement, he's come home to Jessamine to right the wrongs he committed against his friends and family. But, it won't be easy. For starters, the brother he's looked up to his entire life wants nothing to do with him, and no one in town trusts Lucas enough to give him a chance to make amends. Until, Bailey Yates gives him a job at her family's diner.

The prodigal son is finally coming home to make amends for all of his wrongs after serving five years in prison. His first night home he expects it to be difficult, but he had no idea how difficult. His friends and some of his neighbors are actually more accepting than his own family especially his brother Brody. They had always been so close until Lucas screwed up royally. He had hurt so many people and now he was going to do everything that he could to make it up to them. Bailey Yates knew what it was like to mess up and have everyone think badly about you. She had made a mistake years ago and to this day she was still having people question everything that she did. Looking back she wouldn't have changed it because it would have meant not having her son, but it would be great to have people look at her differently.  Bailey decides to hire Lucas to work at her family diner when no one else in town will hire him. Lucas is surprised by her decision, but very grateful. He sees something different in Bailey and begins to care for her and her son.  Bailey sees the changed man that Lucas has become and how much he seems to care for her and her son. She hopes that soon others in town will see it also. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series. I was given an ARC for an honest review. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.  Lori P

I'm a sucker for a second chance story, so I knew I'd really enjoy Love So True as soon as I read the synopsis. I was looking forward to meeting Lucas and seeing how he was trying to get back on his feet – and make things right – after his time in prison. Of course, the love of a good woman can't hurt, so I was anxious to see how he and Bailey would come together, too.  I really liked Lucas. I was on his side from the start. He made it easy. There was no question he was sorry for the things in his past and was eager to fix things as best he could. I really loved his brother Brody in the first book, Love So Hot, but he really tested my patience here. I wish he had been quicker to forgive Lucas and give him the brotherly support he so badly wanted.  Bailey was a great heroine. She was likable and real. She wasn't perfect. She had a past. She was a good mom and a hard worker. I loved how she was willing to take a chance on Brody – both as an employee and then, ultimately, as a romantic partner. He needed someone to believe in him. She was definitely that person.  Lucas and Bailey made a great pair. They had chemistry in spades and it was easy to see how much they cared for each other. I liked that this was a second chance of sorts for them, too, after having shared a kiss when they were younger. They had some smokin' hot scenes together too. I really liked how they supported each other most of all though. She gave him a job and the trust he needed and he helped her become stronger and more willing to stand up for herself where her parents were concerned.  Love So True was a great addition to Marquita's Lawson Brothers series. It was a quick read that I wish had lasted even a little bit longer, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was impossible to not root for a man getting a second chance at life and love ... and the woman helping him. I'm definitely enjoying this series and anxious to learn more about some of Jessamine's other residents in future books!  I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Love So True is about second chances and getting those people in your life to believe that one can change after making poor choices earlier on in life. Lucas Lawson has just returned to Jessamine after spending 5 years in prison for embezzlement. He knows he's got a lot of bridges to mend and he is not sure he's even going to be welcomed back into his small hometown by anyone, his family included. When he first arrives, he is greeted warmly by his parents, but the brother he is closest to almost makes him hightail it right back out of town. That is until he locks eyes with the girl he kissed only once, but still intrigued him. Bailey Yates is a single mother that runs the diner that her parents have owned for years. Having overcome her son's father taking off as soon as he found out about the pregnancy, Bailey knows a thing or two about how judgmental people in a small town can be. Bailey helps Lucas out by giving him a job at the diner much to the chagrin of her parents. Lucas is focused on making amends to all those he wronged and he's also focused on making Bailey realize that he's a different man and he's ready to be the person that she and Leo can count on. The question is will Bailey believe that and can a town that likes to condemn before someone is proven guilty really forgive him for his past transgressions? Marquita Valentine has another hit with this second book in the Lawson Brothers series. I'm excited to see how things unfold when we return to Jessamine in the next book later this spring.

Book two of the series... Bailey and Lucas story was slightly better than book 1 IMO... Lucas did prison time because of an unscrupulous employer (probably a ponzi scheme) and now he comes home to a very mixed reception... Unwed mother Bailey is willing to forgive mistakes and hires him to work in her family diner... Another 120 page book to it is a quick read... Nothing to make this series stand out... tired plots without any new twists...

I needed a lot of Kleenex for this one. Love So True is a well crafted read. Lucas' journey through regret, redemption, understanding and love tears at the heartstrings. It is never an easy thing to ask for a second chance. Yet Lucas' humbled himself and had to do so repeatedly. Ultimately his actions proved what his words could not. THAT HE HAD CHANGED, LEARNED FROM HIS MISTAKES AND DESERVED A SECOND CHANCE. Bailey was my favorite character in this story. She gave Lucas the benefit of the doubt, when nobody else would. She chose in her heart to believed in him and her faith was what carried him through. Love So True is an endearing story and consider myself blessed to have read it. The best hour I ever spent. I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 star read Lucas is trying to make up for past mistakes, returning home to repay the money he embezzled from people. Bailey tries to help Lucas out, knowing what its like to be talked about. the two end up in a steamy romance with a few ups and downs and a bit of growing up left to do. overall a great story. 2 things are holding me at 4.5 stars instead of 5.  1. if Lucas has this money in the bank, why does he nearly starve to death walking home for 8 days? 2. towards the end of the book Bailey's trust in Lucas is tested and I personally think it is resolved to easily and not a true test

*****5 Stars***** Love So True is the second book in the Lawson Brothers series. It's a book about second chances; everyone deserves one. No Spoilers here...  Lucas is a man looking for a second chance from his past and Bailey gives it to him.  Bailey is one of my favorite characters by far. I relate to her is so many ways that it is crazy. I highly recommend this book. Marquita hit another one out of the park! I can't wait to read the next one.
