Overview

Love Songs

Saxophonist and vocalist Warren Hill is a great believer in variety, evidenced by the wide swath of styles touched upon on Love Life. There's plenty of passionate sax playing from the leader on tracks like "Doesn't Get Any Better," "Scenic Route," and "Love Life," but there's also room for diverse performances, including "Can't Get U Out of My Mind," a slinky funk ballad with a sensuous Hill vocal; "Mambo 2000," a Santana-esque Latin rave-up; "Mr. Magic," a hip-hop tribute to Grover Washington Jr. featuring rapper Novacain; "Easy," a light-grooving version of the Commodores hit; the reggae-touched "Why You Gotta Worry?" with a vocal from Quino of Big Mountain, and the luscious instrumental ballad "Sex in the City." Love Life. is enlivened by killer contributions from ace session guitarist Larry Carlton and star smooth-jazz trumpeter Chris Botti, who tangles beautifully with Hill on the title tune.
