Since the time six-year-old Rohann of Reikah had blackened the eye of eleven-year-old Nyjal of Eymarra for his merciless taunting, the two children had formed a stubbornly competitive, long-distance association, communicating every couple of spans only to boast of besting each other�s scores in their simulation games. And though their association starts off as two stubborn children tolerating each other only for the enjoyment of besting the other, obviously children do not remain children forever . . .
Nyjal is nothing more than an arrogant and aggravating boy, in Rohann�s opinion. Just because he was now twenty-two years of age and the next ruler of his world, that was no reason to believe he was any different from the boy whose eye she�d blackened all those years ago. He obviously still enjoyed taunting her, and though she could easily hold her own in their verbal sparring, she only chose to speak with him so that she could boast of besting his piloting game score. So imagine her surprise when one day she finds herself face-to-face with a tall, brawny, exceedingly handsome Nyjal who has come to visit her world on a diplomatic mission. And imagine her further surprise when he yanks her into his arms and delivers her a hot, soul-stirring kiss!
Rohann has been frustrating Nyjal in one way or another since he was eleven years old; first by blackening his eye, then by constantly besting his score in the piloting simulation games, and lately by being the only woman he could ever possibly imagine joining his life with. Seventeen now, she was finally old enough to approach as a man does a woman, but he knows he�ll need to proceed carefully. As they�d only ever known each other as quarrelsome children, he would have to somehow convince her that he was now a man; a mature, responsible, honorable man who was very interested in her as a woman. Now, if he could just get his hands and lips to follow the lecture his mind had given about proceeding carefully . . .
But unfortunately a rebellion on his world of Eymarra and concerns over his father�s safety cut short his intentions with Rohann. Forced by necessity to leave Reikah and return to Eymarra, he cannot bring himself to speak any promises of the future to her until his world and his life are put back in order, for who could say whether he�d even have a future to promise her?
