Love's Promise (The First Street Church Romances, #2) by Melissa Storm

She's trying to learn to love herself… He already thinks she's perfect.

Kristina Rose Maher wants to know why fairytales never happen for fat girls. When the doctor tells her she needs weight loss surgery to treat her diabetes, she sees this as her new chance to embrace life to the fullest and maybe even find a happily ever after all her own.

Jeffrey Berkley promises to be by his best friend's side through her surgery. But when faced with the thought of losing Kristina Rose, he begins to realize just how much she means to him… no matter what size she is. Could revealing his feelings post-op make her doubt his sincerity and distract her from the important promise she made to herself?

Kristina Rose tells Jeffrey he's her rock, but she doesn't realize that she's his, too. Both are terrified of losing their special friendship, but might that friendship actually be the perfect foundation for one of the greatest love stories every told?

Love's Promise is another wonderful book by Melissa Storm. She is a terrific author and you need to read all of her books. Love's Promise is a sweet romance and so much more. It deals with the struggle to love one's self in spite of the flaws and imperfections. Of being true to who you are and not letting others expectations/opinions determine how you live your life. Of the importance of faith in yourself. Kristina Rose and Jeffrey are wonderful characters. People who, if they are in your life, are a blessing. They are so deserving of a happy life and an HEA. I would love to see Mabel find romance in a future book. It was nice to catch up with the characters from Love's Prayer. While the characters from Book 1 are involved in Book 2, each book is a complete novel with no cliffhanger. I highly recommend reading Love's Promise. And all of Melissa Storm's books. They are all fantastic.

I received an ARC of this book, but it in no way influenced my review. This was a great story of two people who have to make decisions for themselves about their lives. Kristina Rose and Jeffery Berkley are friends that work together at the diner. She has to learn to love herself and he has to decide what he wants to do with his life, rather than what his father might want. This is a wonderful story of love, friendship and faith. It's my first read of the First Street Church romances. Im going to go back and read the first one now. Looking forward to the next one too.

I loved this book! I read it within just a few hours. This is the second in The First Street Church Romances Book series. I loved the storyline between Kristina Rose and Jeffrey. They have been good friends for years and work together. Kristina is on the brink of facing a life of changes as she faces gastric bypass surgery. Jeffrey struggles with continual pressure from his father to take over the family business, but that is not what his heart tells him to do. As each comes to grips with their fear of what the future holds for them, they learn much about themselves, each other, and their faith. Melissa Storm shares how the storyline of the gastric bypass surgery mirrors her own life. The two books of the series have been very faith oriented and I have enjoyed reading them very much. I highly recommend this book to all and anxiously await the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book, but was under no obligation to review the book. I have expressed my unbiased opinion.

If you are having doubts about your worth in this world, you need to read this book. No one is perfect. This book explains that no matter what you look like or how you look...You are somebody! As a matter of fact, most of Melissa's books will show you this. This one specifically zeros in on weight loss and weight loss surgery. Nothing in life is easy, but if you want it bad enough,it is worth the effort, especially when you have so many people who love you and are there for you. Even if you don't have any image challenges, this book is one to read.

This was a well-written, sweet, faith-based book. Kristina has decided to have weight loss surgery. Her co-worker, Jeffrey, has feelings for Kristina but doesn't want to lose her friendship. Both have to learn to love themselves before they can have the happily-ever-after they crave. This book can be read as a standalone story, though it is part of a series with related characters set in the same small town. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more in this series and other books by this author.

LOVE’S PROMISE is the second in the First Street Church series. Each stands on their own, but with heavy involvement with the characters from the other stories. I strongly recommend reading them all and in the order of release. So often, the world just seems to be so hard. These stories are always the perfect softening balm to my heart. This may be my favorite of the First Street Church romances that I have read so far, including those brought into this world from other authors. The theme of learning to love yourself before you can truly love someone else is one that many struggle with in their own lives. It is beautifully and sensitively brought to life as Kristina Rose goes through gastric bypass surgery. Jeffrey, God bless him, is patient and kind. He’s a sweetheart of a man and I was rooting for him the whole way through! I am looking forward to returning to Sweet Grove, TX for another uplifting, warm, and fuzzy relationship. Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely. Title: LOVE'S PROMISE Series: First Street Church #2 Category /Genre: Contemporary Romance Recommended for: 18+ due to adult content Grammar/editing: book received as an unedited ARC / errors excused Received from: Melissa Storm (as an ARC gifted copy)

Love's Promise by Melissa Storm is a great book. I loved Kristina Rose and Jeffrey's story. I fell in love with the characters both individually and as a couple. Kristina Rose is going through a life altering surgery and has been looking for her Prince Charming. Little did she know he was near her all along. I absolutely loved this book and can't wait to read more by Melissa Storm.

Melissa has done it again. She makes you feel as if their characters are your friends too. She shows you all the emotions, feelings, thoughts their are going through. Kristina Rose and Jeffrey are best friends but they realise that their feeling are desperate in a very difficult time in their lives. But love, friendship and God help them reach each other and find true love.

Kristina Rose's decision to undergo gastric bypass is the first step in her journey to enjoy self-esteem and learning to trust God. Jeffrey has no inclination to follow in his father's career path yet he hesitates to make his wishes known. They were best friends and both secretly wanted to share their love for each other. This was an enjoyable book with loveable characters with realistic problems and feelings.

It is a very easy read. Faith based. The insecurites we all have wether we admit them or not. And a God who loves us enough to take em away. Be it overweight and changing your life with surgery or a parent child relationship. Do what you can for you not just to please others. A very good read. I like how the last chapter goes right in to the next book.

When you can see pieces of yourself within a story, you know that you've found something special. Ms. Storm spoke from the heart with Love's Promise. Kristin and Jeffrey could be any of us. The wounds run deep and the insecurities are at times hard to bear, but the message of hope and solidarity adds to the power and integrity of an uplifting journey. We all need a little help, that voice of encouragement to inspire us to push through and never give up. Love's Promise is that voice.

This is a great book. It is filled with romance, hope, love and great characters. I feel that the people in his book are my friends. Their love of each other and love of God is powerful. The book touches on many different emotions and dilemmas and suggest solutions. I felt that the characters were talking to me and giving me advice. This book will stir up emotions and leave you feeling glad that you read it. I highly recommend this book to everyone. It is clean, sweet and has a lot of good advice (given by the different characters). This is a book that will leave you wanting more from Melissa Storm.

This is the 2nd book the First Street Church Romances series- a chaste Christian romance. This story features Kristina Rose and Jeff who are friends that work together at the local diner in a small town in Texas. Love blooms after Kristina Rose undergoes weight loss surgery and faces a rocky road to recovery. This was an easy read which could be repetitive at times, but I did enjoy the personalities of the main characters. (I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.)

Love’s Promise is a wonderful book about real life. I believe that’s what makes this so special. It’s not a book about a young, thin beautiful woman who has everything and falls in love with a prince. This is more real life with a woman over weight, not too happy with life and yet she decides to do something for herself and comes out a real winner. The main character, Kristina Rose, decides to have gastric bypass surgery. As she is going through the healing process many things start to become clear to her. She realizes her best friend, Jeffrey, is more than a friend. Her mother who she has little use for shows up and they still have issues. This is a very good Christian book about real life. Author Melissa Strom writes from her heart and you can tell when you real this book. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher for review purposes.

Kristina Rose is a loving and caring woman. She's beautiful on the inside but she wants to be beautiful on the outside as well. She decides to have gastric bypass surgery. Will it help her accomplish her goals and improve her quality of life? Jeffrey, her friend, works with her at the diner. He loves to cook and wants to continue with this job, but he's afraid. He doesn't want to tell his father that he's not going back to college and become a pharmacist like him. Does he have the strength to tell him his dreams? These two friends are at a crossroads. They are always there to support each other. Now they realize that they care for each other. It was touching to watch them open their hearts to love. I cared for Kristina Rose and Jeffrey. Their relationship was sweet and their faith touching. Their dialogue is heartfelt and filled with compassion and caring. I liked all the secondary characters and the setting. Melissa Storm put her heart into this story. This is a journey of personal triumph that touched me.

I love this story, and the two main characters Kristina Rose and Jeffrey. Both of them have fears of what the future will bring for them both; but as the story develops they learned how to deal with the fear and go with what they want. For Kristina, it’s bypass surgery and her life afterwards. Jeffrey is dealing with pressure to take over the family business which is not something he wants to do. On top of this two people who have been great friends come to realize they love each other. Melissa brings her characters to life and I feel this story is written from her heart. I am a new reader of Melissa Storm, but have enjoyed every story I have read of hers. This is the second book in the series; and it is written to stand alone. However I recommend you read the first book also. Copy of book gifted by Author in exchange for an honest review.
