"A powerful love story laced with God's truth." The historical town of Eagle Harbor awaits readers in book one of the bestselling Eagle Harbor Series.

Tressa Danell is finished with men--from the wastrel who left her a widow, to the smelly trapper who keeps proposing, to the banker who wants to repossess her bakery. Every hour is spent working to pay off her late husband's debt and keep a roof over her son's head, though it's doubtful she can do both for very long. But one thing's certain--she'll never be beholden to a man again.

Tired of living in a small town that blames him for actions his father committed ten years ago, Mac Oakton is scheduled to leave Eagle Harbor. So why does the pretty widow at the bakery keep tugging at his heart? He can't get involved in her predicament when he'll only be around for two more weeks.

But when Tressa's burdens overwhelm her, they both face a decision. Can Mac set his own plans aside to help? And can Tressa accept his support if that means giving up her independence ... and being obligated to a man again?

"A fabulous story and the start to a wonderful series." Roseanna M. White, Author of The Lost Heiress.

About the Author

Naomi Rawlings is the author of seven historical Christian novels, including the Amazon bestselling Eagle Harbor Series. While she'd love to claim she spends her days huddled in front of her computer vigorously typing, in reality, she spends her time homeschooling, cleaning, picking up, and pretending like her house isn't in a constant state of chaos. She lives with her husband and three children in Michigan's rugged Upper Peninsula, along the southern shore of Lake Superior where they get 200 inches of snow every year, and where people still grow their own vegetables and cut down their own firewood--just like in the historical novels she writes.

This was a sweet, clean romance novel that speaks of God and Christianity without beating you over the head with a bible. The characters, though many, were realistic and the imagery beautiful. I recommend this book.

This is a sweet, simple tale about the complexity of real love. Humerous at times yet thought provoking. It was a delight to meet unique, endearing characters within a rich historical setting along Michigan's Lake Superior.

This was a very enjoyable storyline of Tressa, a young widow with a son and Mac, a cabinetmaker who was unofficially adopted by the Cummings family. Tressa is a baker who uses her skill to make a living for her son after the unfortunate demise of her unfaithful "sorry excuse of a husband" dies, . That poor Tressa went through a lot because of her faithless husband, but Mac and his love made up for all that she went through...What a great HEA. Reading Elijah 's story next.***vrnb***

Loved how God's love is at the center of the plot! These days it can be challenging to find romance novels that endorse and encourage purity and putting God first in all areas of life. In addition, the book was so well written that I felt like I had been transported to Eagle Harbor.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Many will be able to identify with Tressa. Sometimes you deal with issues in life that make you feel unworthy of being loved. You can overcome and know that wonderful feeling of love by taking one step at a time just like her.

It was very sweet. It is hard to imagine living in those days. It puts into perspective what life was all about. Can’t wait to read the next book.

A story about a female that lost her father. Next she must endure a very bad marriage. She faces some other difficulties, before a man finds her attractive. This man has also endured several difficulties do to actions of his father. I highly recommend this story, it was semi-hard to put down.

Overall I enjoyed this book, but I question why didn't Tressa have friends growing up. There had to have been other teens where she and her dad lived. I'd expect she would have a beau as a 15-16 year old. I would think Tressa would have made friends with other mining families that would have taken her into their home(s) when her dad was killed. Yet no one came forward other than Otis. This is too hard to understand, which devalues the story. *** esk 08/2018 ***

Naomi Rawlings has truly introduced me to a new and different kind of love story. God's love. One I desire if I ever fall for another again. His plan for us. Not the plan we have for ourselves. I am reading to begin the next novel.

This book at times had my heart in my throat. I hurt for this poor woman when it seemed things couldn't get any worse they did. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
