Well done if perhaps not the best of the series, characters are still fun and story good.

This is a great series. The characters pull you in from the start. The mystery/suspense is well crafted, the pacing is good, the plots are strong, and the, often subtle, humor is perfect. I love how Liz's Mom feels anything can be overcome as long as you have the right shade of lipstick.

In the fifth book, Liz and her new husband, Nate are hired by a prominent Charleston law firm to find evidence that their client did not push his wife, Shelby Poinsett to death. Now that they are married, Nate is also able to see and hear Colleen, the ghostly protector of Stella Maris. They have two weeks to find evidence before Shelby's husband Clint goes to trial. This book was not as intense or action packed as some of the others, but it was still enjoyable. There is a lot of watching, listening and talking in this one. Shelby and Nate work the case together, usually in constant communication. The book club was an interesting aspect to the story. This was not a bookclub like the one I belong to, but a rather, high falutin', social status club. Some of the members were quite intriguing and the fact that they don't all like each other was interesting. Liz and Nate seem to be settling in to married life quite nicely. We do not see much of her family in this book and I miss that. The murder seemed a bit ho hum this time around and I hope the next book is more entertaining.

Lowcountry Book Club, by USA Today bestselling author, Susan M. Boyer has to be one of the best cozy mysteries I have ever read. Book Club is the 5th in the Liz Talbot Mystery Series. I prefer to read serial books in order, but I happened up on this one, and couldn't resist.   Private Investigators, Liz Talbot and her new husband, Nate Andrews are brilliant, funny, and sexy, not to mention excellent investigators. The were hired to investigate for the defense of a man whose wife was murdered. Before long it was clear they were onto something.   Sometimes they got help from Colleen, Liz's high school friend who died at the age of 17. Colleen could collect evidence by materializing in places Liz and Nate could not, thus becoming a "fly on the wall" to  overhear conversations.   Boyer is also a recipient and of the Agatha Award, the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Mystery and Suspense, and was shortlisted for the Pat Conroy Beach Music Mystery Prize. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery.

Title: LOWCOUNTRY BOOK CLUB - Liz Talbot Mystery Book 5 Author: Susan M. Boyer Published: 7-5-2016 Publisher: Henery Press Pages: 268 Genre: Mystery, Thrillers & Suspense Sub Genre: Amateur Sleuths; Cozy Mystery; Women Sleuths; ISBN: 13: 9781635110456 ASIN: B01DWH9PE4 Reviewer: DelAnne Reviewed For: NetGalley Rating: 5.75 Stars I received a copy of "Lowcountry Book Club" from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review. Description From the Publisher: Somebody pushed Shelby Poinsett out her second-floor library window and it wasn’t her husband. At least that’s what Charleston’s most prestigious law firm wants Liz Talbot to prove. Liz must run the spectrum of Southern society, from the local homeless shelter where Shelby volunteered to the one-hundred-year-old book club where Charleston’s genteel ladies are dying to join, to bring a killer to justice. My Review: Lucky for Liz Talbot readers, Susan Boyers continues to deliver top notch cozy mysteries. With Characters that we have grown to love and enjoy reading about to mysteries well written with clues to follow and red herrings to be fooled by we are kept guessing to the very last line. Liz and her fellow cast of characters are fleshed out and well established. The scenes are so well done you can envision them in your mind. Each of the books in the series can be read as a stand alone, but each is so much fun to read you will soon be looking for the others. I have given "Lowcountry Book Club" a 4.75 out of 5 rating. Take a break, put up your feet and escape the daily grind for a few hours with "Lowcountry Book Club".

Copy provided by Netgalley for an unbiased review. I just love this series - Susan Boyer does a wonderful job with her characters, the settings and the plots. As a Southerner myself, I can hear the authenticity of the voices of all the characters, and as a lover of the Low Country, I feel like I'm back there again when I read her books. The descriptions of the meals aren't good for my waistline, but that's fine by me - I live vicariously through their meals. And oh yes, this book has a good mystery too - one that I didn't figure out until it was revealed. Overall, I really enjoyed this, as I have all the previous books in the series, and I look forward to the next one.

Wow, this was such a GREAT read!!! The suspect was one I would never suspect and his reasoning was stupid on his part. WHAT A LOSER!! I really enjoyed this cozy and would have never guessed the culprit. That's because his motive was so stupid! But, I truly enjoyed reading this little cozy and once I got into it, I could not put it down. I think everyone should have a Colleen in their lives, it makes everything so much clearer. HA!! Actually, this is a great series and I am so glad that I got to read and review it. It was so entertaining, and yes a few chuckles, but I truly enjoyed it! Thanks to Henery Press and Net Gallery for providing me a free e-galley in exchange for a honest review. I LOVED IT!!!

This is a great book; this is the fifth book in the A Liz Talbot Mystery series written by Susan Boyer. This book can be read as a standalone, but once you read one you will want to go back and read the other books in this series. Liz Talbot and her husband are private investigators in the Charleston, SC area. When Shelby Poinsett is pushed to her death from her second floor library window, Liz and her husband take the case to prove that Shelby’s husband is innocent. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

In her normal fashion, Boyer has taken me and transformed my world with the sweet smelling, southern charm that seems to come naturally from her characters. Don't be fooled though, I do declare there's a touch of fire somewhere in there, as Liz's thoughts, and at times words, are tinged with a sarcasm that would burn the honey right out of that sweet tea! Fabulous plot and investigative details; you will think you might have it figured out, but you don't! Well done once again Boyer- a witty, finely tuned mystery to hold our attention and keep us on our toes! *I received an arc from NetGalley for an honest review

Lowcountry Book Club is the fifth installment in Susan M. Boyer's Liz Talbot Mystery Series. Set in the Charleston, South Carolina area with home base on the fictional barrier island Stella Maris, Liz Talbot and her husband/business partner Nate Andrews have been hired by attorney Fraser Rutledge to help clear Clint Gerhardt of the murder of his wife, socialite and philanthropist, Shelby Poinsett Gerhardt. With jury selection only two weeks away, Rutledge has fired the current investigator and hired Liz and Nate to find the truth. As they unravel informative from Shelby's life, they find she has no known enemies, a devoted husband and the position of president in an historic book club taking on controversial changes in their bylaws. Sorting through Shelby's friends and acquaintances, Liz and Nate find out much, but nothing that will clear Clint and prosecute the villain. In true form, this mystery twists and turns to solve the crime. With shots taken at Liz and Charleston detective Sonny Ravenel, the clues start climbing to a startling crescendo. Although this is the fifth in the series, it can stand alone, but you are missing a lot if you do not read this delightful series. I wholeheartedly recommend this book.

Lowcountry Book Club featuring sleuthing couple Liz & Nate was a fun read. I've never read any of the other books, but I will definitely have to read them from the beginning. Someone killed Shelby Poinsett and her husband is the prime suspect. It's up to Liz to find proof that will clear the husband's name. Liz has no problem following the many she leads she can find, however, there is definitely something odd going on and Liz finds herself in the middle of quite a huge mess. I had a tough time getting into the book, but once I did, I couldn't put it down. The story was very good and I liked all the characters. I did find some parts a bit confusing, but that is only due to the fact that it's the first book I've read in the series. I recommend that anyone not familiar with the series to start at the beginning, it will make things easier. I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my fair and honest review.
