Lucid: First Edition by Adrienne Stoltz, Ron Bass

What if you could dream your way into a different life? What if you could choose to live that life forever?

Sloane and Maggie have never met. Sloane is a straight-A student with a big and loving family. Maggie lives a glamorously independent life as an up-and-coming actress in New York. The two girls couldn't be more different—except for one thing. They share a secret that they can't tell a soul. At night, they dream that they're each other.

The deeper they're pulled into the promise of their own lives, the more their worlds begin to blur dangerously together. Before long, Sloane and Maggie can no longer tell which life is real and which is just a dream. They realize that eventually they will have to choose one life to wake up to, or risk spiraling into insanity. But that means giving up one world, one love, and one self, forever.

This is a dazzling debut that will steal readers' hearts.

One of the best books I have ever read. The symbols used to describe the main characters facets. I mean literally an amazing mind blowing book. I was on the edge the entire time. I could not put it down. Incredible. Its 4am and I have to be up at 6am. PLEASE PLEASE READ! GIVE IT A CHANCE! YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Once I made it through half of the book, I thought I had an idea of who was the real one and who wasn't, then my idea totally wasn't what happened. the last chapter or 2 did get really confusing, but it all worked itself out in the end.

I was really excited to start reading this book. I recently purchased it, and the book was really pulling me in from what I had read about it on the back. The idea of the book was wonderful; very creative. Did it live up to it? No. From the beginning of the book, it was pretty good, until somewhere around the middle and got really confusing. First of all, the two character dream about each other lives. A lot throughout the book, I got confused with which character's "life" I was in. The authors kept randomly throwing a bunch of random boyfriends around, and it made it hard for the reader to get closer and build a connection with the characters. The book was not very descriptive at all, making it hard for me to visualize the characters and the setting. Only once or twice did it mention the color of one main character's' hair, and maybe eye color. I even questioned myself if I was going to continue reading the book. But I decided that I had gotten through a lot of it, so I may as well finish it, thinking it may get better. Nope, it got worse. The confusion kept getting stronger, and the plot kept twisting around. Maybe because two people wrote the book. Maybe their ideas got combined and made it into a mess. I still don't understand what happened at the end of the book. Whose life was real? What the hell happened? Overall it was a disappointing read and a waste of time. I would rate it one star, but I am giving credit f or the creative ideas that were in the book. Originally, when I first got the book, I thought it would be about trying to figure out whose life was real, and who was a dream. IF YOU LIKE ROMANCE, THERE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH IN THIS ONE. There is actually too much. The book may as well have been in the romance section. The romance wasn't even good. I like romance sometimes, but this was unrealistic and didn't make me feel closer to the characters. The whole plot also focuses on if one of the characters will get the part in a movie. The book was so forgettable, I don't even remember if she got it or not. I mean, come on, who people SHOULD be able to write an amazing book. This just reflected that the authors didn't work together. So next time I see a book written by two authors, I may pass it up. So words to describe it: forgettable, confusing, unrealistic, annoying, over done with the amount of romance, and just a train wreck with a bunch of dead people and blood.

This book was very different from pretty much anything I have read before!  I just don't know how I feel about it.  It is a book that makes you think, the story line so unusual and so gripping.  I was totally engrossed, just needing to know what was happening.  But the book was a complete mind trip! Sloane and Maggie were opposite ends of the spectrum.  Sloane is a good student, living with her family in Connecticut and crushing on the new guy.  Maggie doesn't go to school anymore, needing the time for auditions, living a glamourous life in New York City.  The two couldn't be more different.   But when they go to sleep each night, they dream of each other, despite never having met.  And this is where the mind bending comes in.  Who is real?  Who is a dream?   The story is told through the perspectives of each girl from chapter to chapter.  We get to know each of them so well, two complete and distinct girls.  But then when things start to fall apart near the end, it becomes almost impossible to separate them.  Both of them stand to lose everything and it is impossible to root for one over the other.  Both girls are vulnerable and good people and it is heart wrenching.  The ending is emotional and perplexing, the kind of conclusion that is completely open to the reader's interpretation. My Recommendation:  This is an intense book, full of love and loss.  It is a book that makes you think and I came with an infinite number of theories for why things were as they were.  Who is real and who isn't?  What is insanity and what is dream?
