This is the first book I've read by Daisy James and I really enjoyed it. I will say that reading this book gave me an insatiable craving for cupcakes, so consider yourself warned: You may gain weight while reading this book. (just kidding!) After Lucie's boyfriend turns down her wedding proposal, she loses her job, and becomes a social media sensation (and not in a good way); she is left feeling a little lost. After some soul searching she decides to create her own cupcake business. Her business sounded like it would be so much fun. For being a shorter story, I thought this one was dragging in a few places, but that could just be me. Lucie has a real passion for baking and you really feel how much she loves it by the way she talks about it. At the beginning of the story she is a bit of a neat freak and thought she had her whole life planned out. I found Lucie to be a little frustrating at times, to be honest. She was so fixated on Alex even though it was abundantly clear that he didn't care about her at all. It got to be tiring. I really loved Ed! He got Lucie to be a little more adventurous and to chase her dreams instead of settling. You could definitely feel the chemistry between the two of them, but this one is a "clean" romance, so no explicit scenes. ** I received an ARC of this title via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. **

I’ve loved every book I’ve read by this author – and this is no exception. She writes with a great sense of humour so, even though her hero and heroine may well have traumatic events, the story is still well seasoned with tasty, witty events and encounters. There’s also the delicious theme of Italian deserts and designer cupcakes in this novel, making it a really mouthwatering read. The delectable recipe for this story includes an Italian trattoria, a mystery restaurant reviewer, hashtag fame, an old competitor (who is a hot Italian hunk) and an old ice cream van that plays Greensleeves when you press the silver button! It also includes good friends, lots of advice, a lovely sister (and her twin sons) and a brilliant plot. The characters are well developed and there are certainly some who I hope will feature in their own novel in future. The story starts with everything going wrong for Lucie and is a rocky road to her achieving her HEA in this brill second chance romance. It is a sweet and scrumptious fun read, an incomparable recipe for a delightful summer romantic comedy. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
