About the Author

Ruth Wielockx never imagined that she would become a writer and illustrator of children’s books. She studied Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Leuven (Belgium) and Southampton (United Kingdom), and went on to get a degree in education. After years of teaching, Ruth realized that she really liked drawing and painting. She took this new passion and combined it with her love of children’s books to begin a very successful career as an author and illustrator.

Interviews

For a long time, I wanted to write a book about Halloween. The combination of scary, magical lights and dressing up yourself ... I was sure that my characterst Luke and Lottie would enjoy it! It was a challenge though, to imagine the things that preschoolers often find scary – such as spiders and wandering around in the dark – in such a way, that they seem less frightening. In this book, Luke and Lottie discover that shuddering can be fun and that not everything is as scary as it seems., children will delight in the simple joys of Halloween. I tried to make the horror trip atmospheric, with purple skies and orange lights, so that children can step into the story and enjoy this great feast. Trick or treat!
