Lynna's Rogue (Curse of the Conjure Woman, Book One) by Kitty Margo

Lynna Rhodes has been a sheltered recluse for all of her eighteen years. Due to numerous kidnapping attempts, the young heiress was rarely allowed to step past the threshold of her palatial home in Paris, France. Until her father sends her to live with his sister on a cotton plantation in Savannah, Georgia. Her past of lonely isolation is left in the ship’s wake when a roguish sea captain sails into her life. Captain Joshua Jordan is older by several years, devilishly handsome, and sexy beyond words. Before the Windjammer docks in America the good captain teaches her things that… well… things.
Lynna’s life is filled with the stuff that dreams are mad of until an equally attractive pirate captain, rumored to be the most vicious swashbuckler to ever plunder and pillage the seven seas (and with an ax to grind against Captain Jordan) kidnaps her in hopes of destroying their happily ever after, and keeping the exquisite beauty for himself.

I read it because it was rated 5 star & free. Doesn't worth the star. The only thing missing from keeping the couple apart is the plague. The heroine was sent away from France to Georgia by her wealthy father due to kidnapping threats. While crossing the Atlantic, she had drunken sex with the captain. Went their separate ways & reconnect after three years. After reconnecting, captain's jealous lover schemed to keep him by lying & forcing him to marry her. Heroine was almost raped 2 times, knocked around by an abusive uncle, relocate to Jamaica, marry a eunuch, drugged & kidnapped by said eunuch and taken aboard a pirate ship, was almost raped by a pirate, escape pirate ship by going overboard, washed up on deserted island and woke up with memory loss. Eventually her Captain came to the island and rescued her. She did regain her memory before leaving the island. The conversations between the leads are absolutely horrible. Don't waste your time.

IT WAS OK. SHE WAS A LITTLE TOO NAIVE AND THEY FALL FOR EACH OTHER A LITTLE TOO FAST. LONG IS NOT ALWAYS GOOD.

I enjoyed reading this book. Except some of the events did not match the time line. For example the auther kept referring the time when Samuel, Daniel and lynna were together in younger years. She has only been in Georgia for three years. They were not that young when they met.

I read this book and read all the books that followed in rapid succession! Lynna's Beau, Lynna's Promise, Lynna's Denstiny, A Pirate to Treasure and Clara's Song. Waiting for Clara's Heart to be released in June! There are quite a few grammatical, spelling and punctuation errors in all of these books but if you can overlook that they are entertaining. I bought all the books for about what one movie ticket would cost- to me that's a bargain! I think this author will mature in her writing as she goes along and has a shot at a good career as a romance novelist. I liked that the stories took place in both the pre-Civil War South and the tropical islands. You didn't get bored with one or the other and she brought out the beauty of both- in scenery and in the differing lifestyles. I don't normally tolerate the hocus pocus stuff too well, but nonetheless these books were a good escape, which was what I was looking for! Good Luck to you, Kitty Margo, and thank you!

Unnecessary plot lines that drag the story out

First, the heroine was simmpering, helpless, idiot. Secondly, the story was full of unnessisa plot twists that seem contrived and only served to meet some page requirements. I cannot believe there is more than one book for these characters! I have had pretty good luck with free books, but this was one of the worst. I'm sure glad I didn't party for it.
