I was quite disappointed with this book. The premise was shaky at best and the storyline was boring. Frankie's heartbreak seemed stupid considering how Mack left. Then to have these various trust issues stem from 1 little event and hmmm and haw over 2 people for the majority of the book... melodramatic. I would not recommend this book nor would I be inclined to read it again.

Mack Daddy is a standalone book that had me hooked from the first page, this book has it all, It's sexy, funny but it's also a moving second chance/friends to lovers story. Mack is a single dad who will do what ever it takes to give his son the right teacher and that teacher just happens to be Frankie (the girl that got away) . Frankie was best friends/roommate with Mack back in their college days but they came from different backgrounds and Mack broke her heart when he left for the summer and never came back. Mack was the only one who saw the quirky girl with the thick rimmed purple glasses for what she was, a beautiful caring person but his life back then was not his to control, now he is in control and he wants not only Frankie to be his sons teacher he wants her in his life again.... the problem is will the past get in the way again. This book not only gives you a funny, quirky, sexy love story it also covers a subject that many authors would shy away from OCD, but it doesn't end there we also have the subject of children from broken homes. Penelope Ward has done a fantastic job giving you just enough humour mixed in with drama and emotions. Fantastic Read

Usually like her stories better. Had a tough time empathizing with the characters. The drama felt unnecessary and immature.

I really feel that the cover of the book does not do this story justice. Let me explain, yes Mack is described as a Hottie. Which he is. But there's so much more to this story. I'm always surprised (not sure why) by the depth of the stories that Ward writes.  I don't feel it's all about the hot steamy sexy times. Mack and Frankie have a history together, one that never really got it's destined ending. But when Mack shows back up in her life. It was their second chance.  I'm not going into detail about what happens. Because then as a reader you won't get the surprises, that I had. There's a lot more going on in this story.  The narration was good. I know Sebastian York has a fan base. I can see why. Both of the narrators really put their emotions into this story. With that, you're not really focusing on the voices, but more about the story. The emotions, that each of these characters felt.  Overall, I give this story Five Boundless Stars.

(4-4.5 stars) Don’t let the title scare you off. I got a chuckle out of the meaning behind it once it was revealed. This is not the usual friends to lovers romance. Yes, Frankie and Mack were friends in college but that’s as far as their relationship went. Years after having her heart broken, they’re reunited. MD was fun, flirty, and sexy and put a smile on my face the entire time I was reading. Their relationship really is something special. I adored the epilogue and now I’m left wanting more.

Mack Daddy is a standalone second chance romance that happens to include a cute little boy named Jonah, who happens to have some anxiety issues and panic attacks. The fact that his dad, Mack Morrison and his mom Torrie are separated doesn't help his problems at all. When they move because of Torrie's job, Mack makes sure to get him into the school where his old roommate and friend Francesa O'Hara happens to be a first grade teacher. Frankie cannot believe that Mack now has a kid and that the boy also suffers from a lot of the problems that she has suffered from. Now she just needs to find a way to help Jonah without getting close to Mack again, easier said than done. This story is told in alternating POV's and it also flows easily from past to present, so that the reader knows Mack and Frankie's past. I loved Frankie's best friend Lorelai and could not help but fall in love with Mrs. Migillicutty, Mack's neighbor and friend, she is really a hoot! I couldn't help but feel sorry for Victor and at the same time I wanted him to show a little bit more anger at the circumstances. Overall this was a great book, it was funny, sexy, and sweet. One of my favorite parts was Mack reading stories to the class about Frankie Four Eyes.

Going from roommates when they were in college to eventually lovers when they are adults. Neither have been out of the other’s mind over the years and Mack saw his chance to plant himself back into Frankie’s life when Mack’s son started a new school year in Boston. "I lost all those years, only to end up in the same place, wanting you and wishing I hadn't ever let you go." As we follow them along their journey in present day, we get to see flashbacks on how they first met, a special handshake! As the year goes by they are drawn together more and more and it becomes clear that their love for each other is stronger than ever. Now it is just on how they are going to get together and stay that way. "Mack was the only one for me. There was no way this feeling could ever be replicated…because it had been years in the making." Mack is definitely a DILF! He has the entire package (a-hem) to make any woman drop to their knees (again, a-hem). To see him with his son was so cute and endearing. Frankie is gorgeous and even though she is quirky she is the package that Mack wants. They compliment each other so well. Each bringing a different level to their growing love. "Remember all those things you wished I could do to you? I'm about to make all your wishes come true if you let me." “If my body had this kind of response now, what would have happened if he’d actually done more? Spontaneous impregnation?” What a build up this story was! We get a little of suspense to give that splash of drama and the “will they, won't they” to keep us on the edge. I wanted to read as fast as I could to see what was going to happen but slowed myself down because I wanted to make sure I got every necessary detail to know how the story would end. “Sometimes, the more difficult road leads to the greatest destination.” Frankie and Mack were a fun couple to read. Their story flowed with ease and that is thanks to Penelope’s writing. As we have come to love with Penelope’s characters we are gifted the desire they have for each, the wit and humor weaved into the banter, the pain that they carry, the blind trust, heated moments that make you blush, that life might give you obstacles - all mixed to show that with true love that anything is possible.

Penelope brings you yet another amazing story in Mack Daddy! I was in total awe with the story. Not only was this a must read, but the cover was also very HOT and taunting you every time you would see it in your news feed on social media. I loved the Excerpt Reveal day and with the teaser we were given I knew I was a goner before I started. Yesterday we were fortunate for an early release day. I told myself to read a few chapters each day to make the book last. Well I stayed up until 11 pm finishing the book! Oh well, I could not let Mack go for one minute. Frankie and Mack have been friends for years. You get their past and present in the book. Mack has the looks, body, and every mom at his son's school is chasing after him. But he only has his eyes set on our beloved Frankie. I fell for them both. Frankie being awkward and funny, and Mack not afraid to show his vulnerability. That is when my heart cracked! When he bared it all. I wanted to hug him and make it all better!!! Mack just didn't have the right stars aligned for him and he was ready to take back his life. I now share my heart with Mack! Mack Daddy was not what I expected diving in. You will laugh and cry!! Maybe both at the same time. Mack Daddy is definitely sexy and Mack knows how to bring Frankie to her knees behind closed doors. I was emotionally spent when I finished the book. With all the sexiness of Mack Daddy, you get the emotions that ride high and low. You want to scream at some of the characters and kick their ... well you know what. I want to go everywhere and tell everyone that this book is IT for 2017! I love my other authors new releases, but come on! Mack stays with you and I will be visiting him over and over!! Thank you Penelope for bringing us Mack, Frankie, and little Jonah!

Mack Daddy by Penelope Ward is a standalone second chance romance told in dual POV between Mackenzie (Mack) and Francessca (Frankie). He's a single dad, she's his son's new teacher. It's been eight years since they parted ways both longing for a different outcome and having to make-do with their lives and move on as best they could, but now, they are back in each others lives and things can either go really well or head straight down the drain. An angsty journey that has flashbacks throughout slowly giving us the full picture of what went down between them all those years ago. Not one word has this woman written that I haven'y loved. Mack Daddy is no exception. Enjoy!

Mack Morrison and Frankie O'Hara met when they became roommates in Boston. Although they're total opposites, they become best friends. As they spend more time with each, they fall in love, even though Mack has a girlfriend in DC. When everything seems to be lining up for them to be together, Mack leaves Frankie and goes back to DC. Eight years later, Mack is back to Boston and wants to win Frankie back. But there's still unfinished business between them, Frankie is still hurting, and she's also dating someone. Will Mack win Frankie's heart again? Or has Frankie moved on? I loved Mack Daddy! It's a funny, sweet, and sexy story, with the perfect amount of drama. Frankie and Mack's story hooked me from the first page and I couldn't stop reading. I loved the dual POVs and the flashbacks that showed how Mack and Frankie met and how they bonded and fell in love. Francesca "Frankie" O'Hara is a teacher and loves her job. She is very shy around adults but with children she's the best. Eight years ago, she fell in love with Mack. When she thought he felt the same for her, he broke her heart. Now he's back and wants her. But she is still very hurt and very confused. She has a great boyfriend that loves her, protects her, and makes her feel safe. Mackenzie "Mack" Morrison is back to Boston and wants Frankie. He regrets how he left her and wants to win her back. He's now older and wiser and also a father. He believes that Frankie is the right match for him and for his son. He isn't afraid to say what he's feeling and showing how vulnerable he is without Frankie. I loved how he fought for Frankie! Penelope Ward gives us a new book boyfriend and an amazing story. Mack will make you swoon in this story about love, friendship, and trust. Mack Daddy is flawlessly written, making it very easy to connect with the characters and the story.

Frankie Four Eyes Once again Penelope has blown me away with a alpha who is totally swoon worthy and down right dangerous on a girl's heart. This second chance romance gave me the feels page after page and I'm so glad to have read it. Mackenzie (Mack) wants to win back the only girl he has every truly loved but he knows that its going to be hard to do so he plans a sneak attack, enroll his son in her class where seeing him will be unavoidable. Francesca (Frankie) is not only shocked she's thrown for a loop to see him again after so many years and so many unresolved feelings. The characters, the chemistry, getting to see glimpses of the past to help you along with their backstory makes this one well rounded read. If you're looking for a book that will have you laughing out loud and rooting for both the hero & the heroine then definitely pick this book up.

3.75 stars-- MACK DADDY by Penelope Ward is a stand alone, contemporary, adult, romantic story line. This is businessman Mackenzie ‘Mack’ Morrison, and elementary school teacher Francesca O’Hara’s second chance story. Told from alternating first person points of view (Mack and Francesca) including memories from the past, MACK DADDY focuses on the rekindling relationship between one time best friends Mack Morrison and Francesca O’Hara. Francesca is an elementary school teacher and the new term begins with a familiar face-a face that destroyed our heroine’s heart. Enter Mack Morrison, and his six year old son Jonah-a young man with issues of separations and anxiety. What ensues is the rebuilding friendship and romance between our leading couple as they consider their future together and alone. Francesca aka Frankie O’Hara loves her current boyfriend Victor-an older lover who offers Frankie the world- but the reappearance of the one that walked away begins to break down all of Frankie’s resistance. Victor offers Frankie a choice, then quietly walks away without a fight to the finish. Mack Morrison shares custody of his son with his ex Torrie-the woman for whom he sacrificed his friendship with Frankie, and the woman who will continue to destroy our hero’s heart. But with war comes the battles, and Mack and Frankie will choose their battles one step at a time. The relationship between Mack and Frankie is one of second chances; a rekindling romance that sizzled with palpable sexual attraction but a romance that was never to be. Mack was in a relationship that his father approved, and Frankie was a friend who got caught in the crossfire. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense without the use of sexually graphic, over the top language and text. We are introduced to Frankie’s co-worker Lorelai, a woman who pushes all of Frankie’s buttons; Mack’s ex Torrie Hightower; his neighbor Mrs. Migillicutty; his mother and sister, as well as his politically prominent father. The world building looks at second chances, and hard choices, and in this some readers may take offense or have difficulty with some of the story line content-Frankie straddles a line of infidelity where Mack and her current relationship are concerned. MACK DADDY is a story of second chances; of a friendship that was broken; of a heart that was unable to move on from the past. The premise is engaging; the romance is passionate and emotional; the characters are colorful and energetic. MACK DADDY is a sexy and sensitive story line from the mind of Penelope Ward.

Mack is nothing short of delicious. He’s incredibly sexy, a great dad and an all-around nice guy. I am not sure how anyone could resist him when he focuses the full force of his charm onto you. Frankie is sweet, but she definitely has a hard time figuring out what she wants. There’s reasons she doesn’t trust Mack; therefore, he has his work cut out for him to convince her to take a chance on him. Mack Daddy is everything you want in an excellent second-chance romance. You’ll feel Frankie’s gut-wrenching emotions when she is unexpectedly reunited with Mack, and your heart will squeeze hoping they get their happily ever after. If you are okay with a bit of a love triangle, you will absolutely love Mack Daddy. Penelope Ward always delivers, and I can’t wait to see what she writes next. ARC provided by the author’s publicist, but no one made me write this review and my opinions are honest and my own.

Each and every time Penelope Ward releases a new book, I know I am in for an emotional, wonderful, sexy ride. Every time I read a new Penelope Ward book, there is a freshness I feel from new territory explored and incredible characters just born. MACK DADDY gave me all of that and more. Mack Morrison had it all when he was a college student in Boston. A promising career in front of him, a girlfriend back in DC where he wanted his career to take root, and the most amazing roommate he could have ever conjured up in the depths of his imagination, the lovely Francesca, who he affectionately referred to as Frankie. As the Mack and Frankie grew close through laughter, attraction and devotion as young adults, they both wistfully hoped that one day the stars might align and they might get a romantic chance to be together. If only life were that easy. Ten years after Mack and Frankie bonded, Francesca, a teacher in Boston, was stunned to find that one of the new students as the new school year started, was none other than Mack's son, Jonah. Forced to face the past, and the man she could never, truly let go of, Francesca slowly but surely let Mack back in…as a friend, while at the same time providing a safe, nurturing environment for Mack's anxious son. Mack came back to Boston because he knew what and who he wanted, Frankie! Mack made it no secret that he always felt that magnetic pull toward her, and through stories from the past, and sweet moments in the now, Mack vows to win Frankie back! Along the way we meet some fabulous characters. Some wise, some funny, and some dark and dirty! During the adventure of "Get Frankie back" we learn about all facets of life when separated from a true love for years. I love second chance romances, vulnerable, sexy men who love their children and stories filled with hope! MACK DADDY offers all of this and more! You'll want to read this book for sure! Congratulations, Penelope!!!

Such a touching story! I couldn't put this book down. I loved the dynamic of Frankie & Mack's relationship at the beginning of the story, and I especially loved reading how it evolved. True to form for the Penelope books I have read, this story brings to light several issues that I, personally, didn't know much about but that many people deal with daily. And holy cow, did this book have a lot of twists. I mean, a lot of very unexpected ones. Lots. The emotions between Mack and Frankie were so wonderfully done. You want a story where you can FEEL the love? This is it. I can't wait for Penelope's next book! (I received a copy of this book in consideration of an honest review)
