Mad About The Man By Tracy Anne Warren What do you do when the bane of your existence from middle school becomes the love of your life? Brie Grayson, a successful lawyer has this dilemma. Maddox Monroe, a luxury hotel owner tormented Brie and made seventh grade unbearable for her. He has also been in love with her since then. Brie’s law firm wants to get Maddox’s business to their firm. He agrees, with a few conditions, Brie must handle all of his accounts or the deal is off. Maddox begins a campaign to win Brie. She is resistant because her heart was broken years before. Will Maddox be able to break through Brie’s defenses? Will Brie get over her trust issues and give love a chance? Maddox fell in love with Brie in seventh grade and typical of all middle schoolers, because he liked her, he acted like a bully towards her. During a chance meeting in the Hamptons, Brie “accidently” hits Maddox in the face with a tennis ball after he makes a comment similar to some of the taunts he used in school. As they begin to work together, it becomes harder for Brie to separate work and fun. She realizes there is more to Maddox then his seventh grade self. I really enjoyed this book. Brie comes from a large, happy family. In addition to her work at the firm, dealing with Maddox’s advances, Brie is involved with her sister Ivy’s wedding. Maddox on the other hand had to take care of his mother and sister. Maddox worked very hard to get Brie to see the adult man and not the mean boy. After betraying her trust, Maddox nearly loses Brie. It will take a monumental effort to win her back. It was interesting to see the changes happen in the relationship between these two characters and the realization that they both did love each other. I also enjoyed the dynamic within the Grayson family even in the face of tragedy. I highly recommend this book.
