I really liked this story. I liked that Quince was trying to do something for the poor in her community, not that I condone stealing, but she felt it was the only way to get the money that she needed. Then along comes Alasdair. After stealing from him, she knows that she needs to quit or be caught by the man himself. Unfortunately her stealing doesn't stop there and it leads to a lot more mischief between the H/H. I really loved the bantering between Quince and Alasdair and it had me laughing out loud at times. I'm looking forward to the next book in the Highland Brides series which is Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Marry. Thanks go out to ERB Publishing via NetGalley for a copy of the book in exchange of an honest review.

Lady Quince Winthrop is the Robin Hood to Edinburgh’s rich. When Alasdair, Marquess of Cairn is brought in to find the thief of Edinburgh, little does he know it’s the lady he’s started courting. This sounded really good and is a plot that has been surfacing more and more lately, but it kind of fell flat. I just really had a problem with Lady Quince’s character and the gullibility of Alasdair. I don’t recommend. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review

I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. 'Mad About the Marquess" is book one in the 'The Highland Brides' series by Elizabeth Essex. Lady Quince Winthrop has always been a little bit of a rebel but not she has taken it to a new level. Quince is tired of seeing her fellow Scottish being taken from their land in favor of sheep. Quince has went forward and tired to help the people by taking items from the 'rich to give to the poor'. Alasdair, Marquess of Cairn has come back to town after his grandfather's death and is set to find who the thief is. Alasdair has know Quince from a earlier time when he used to court her sister. Now Alasdair has set his eye on Quince and wants to hurry up his investigation so that he can work toward getting Quince. Really Great Read that I would recommend! Lady Quince Winthrop is a self-proclaimed thief, thrill seeker and inherently bad person. She steals from the rich to give to the poor but does it because she enjoys the adrenaline rush. Into her life returns Alasdair, the Marquess of Cairn, who once courted her sister. He is a reformed thrill seeker and seems to see Quince as someone who might fulfill his need for thrills. That may all sound well and good and the basis for a great story but for me to visualize a 19 year old young woman from a good family with kleptomania courting calamity and perhaps prison did not make sense. She would have to be a bit addlepated to move from petty pilfering to highway robbery – at least in my opinion. I could not see why Alasdair would want her and yet I am not sure why she would want him, either. I guess the book did not work for me even though I felt the writing was okay – I could not buy into the storyline or interaction of the characters for some reason but have a feeling others may in a way that I did not. Thank you to NetGalley and ERB Publishing for the copy to read and review. 2.5 Stars
