I can honestly say this is one of the best books I ever read . Yes I'm Only 16 But this book is definitely inspiring me for my future. I Have no negative comments about this memoir. The author grew up where my mom grew up & also works with my mother. Sherri is such A strong woman after going through so Much with a man who beat her & made Her feel like she wasn't worth anything. Sherri is a mother of 3 and her children were her motivation through her Abusive Marriage and nurse school. She did it for her but also her children . Sherri grew up in overtown miami and attended Miami high school where she met the love of her life Doug Edwards. Sherri went through hell and back in high school trying to be Doug girlfriend. Doug was an popular basktball player in high school so Sherri Had to deal with Doug little fan girls. Doug & Sherri had a good relationship in high school, had a little complications but it wasn't so bad until they both got into college & got married. I'm not Gonna tell the whole book but Sherri is amazing woman. I Got done reading this book in luck & all I did was smile. She Finally got tired of getting mistreated . She filed for a divorce, got Child support, and got custody of her 3 kids. Sherri kept her marriage name which was Edward but she only kept it for her children. Sherri prefer for people to Call her by her first name or by her family last name Patterson
